Sure, the next thing will be a pots and pans registry, then your will have to have serial numbers on all your registered cookware. Then you will need a CPP. Concealed Pan permit. Not to mention secure storage laws when you are not using your cookware. Then they will come up with a restricted category of pans because they look scary. Then next it will be screwdrivers, then hammers, then bats, oh and let's not forget about the most dangerous, automobiles, oh wait they are already registered, but you see how it starts

Cast iron pans would be in the prohibited category because of their tactical nature (weight). 😀

Ah hell, my ex girl friend use to call my house the house of knives, and every one of them I could or almost shave with (depending on the steel used). 😈

I live alone and recently had two men/boys at my bedroom window, at best it would take 20min for the cops to get to me, you wanna a bet I let them know I was there and would do what I had to to defend myself. After that all bets are off. I figure if you are entering my house when you know I'm there you intend to hurt me and I'm going to give you every reason to change your mind. Luckily these guys left when they knew I was there and heard my dog so I wasn't too worried. But people arn't in the wrong place at the wrong time they choose to do risking things and the consequences are their own fault.

A role of quarters in your pocket is legal.
Just in case you have to make change for some one!!!!

I found this link in the comments of another story.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/firing-warning-shots-ok-in-some-cases-minister-says-1.1147477

It's just from a committee and the story is almost a year old, but at least there's some recognition that the laws around self defence and property defence are absurd.

There are none lethal first line defense items that I would consider
Keeping the possible threat at a distance until you can figure their true intentions is verrrrry important
Keep wasp spray near to hand, window cleaner or even WD 40
These all have long distant settings for a stream type spray
Things such as pepper spray are not legal so use something with a legit use
I think some thing like this will show a persons true intention or may help change their mind for them
I to as an ex military fella do have more physical responses if required but would try a warning device first

My wife and I had a stalker who was harassing us, a local LEO suggested a fire extinguisher as a deterrent. I assume he meant to blast them with it if they came to the door however it would have been very effective either way. My general rule is if you break into my house, take what you want, but if you come up the stairs where my family is then you forfeit your life! And I'm not talking death by fire extinguisher!

Fire extinguishers work great
When I was truckin I kept one in my lap going in and out of New York
I was hauling hanging beef sides and twice had guys jump up on my running boards, one with a gun
I kept the window open and sprayed em in the face and then hit them with the door
Very effective I am still here today

Personally I think criminals can be reformed (sometimes) but we are all responsible for our own choices. If I go quadding and wind up rolling it, I may break something. That'd be no one's fault but mine. Likewise if I break into a house, I'm choosing to take the associated risks. And again if I get injured in that endeavor, it's my fault.

Everyone is looking for a safety net these days; some kind of do-over when their choices come home to roost.

Not to sound bitter and twisted but
Here in Canada I'm pretty sure if you do anything but help a criminal load your stuff in his truck aren't we the ones going to jail
That's why I do all I can to keep them from entering in the first place
