St. Joseph’s has about a dozen drugs it expects to run out of within weeks.

FDA Current Drug Shortages

In the event of a Grid down scenario, a city has about a 30 day supply of various drugs. More if you're smart enough to loot the drug stores and find your particular drug. And if you're the first ones there.
Now just imagine what happens when all the people run out of their anti pcyhcotic drugs. Fun times indeed. Won't need a TV for that stuff. I'm not convinced all the antipcyhotic drugs are needed. (However, I have a few ex-girlfriends who could prove me wrong.)
The sad part is some good people who are on drugs like insulin will die needlessly.
Best to find herbal remedies. Or get out of town for a bit.
my mom is one of the people that may be sh** out of luck with the shortage of chemo drugs 🙁
Every year at this time (spring) there has been a shortage of anti-psych drugs in Canada. Usually, unless you are on those meds, you have no idea there is a shortage.
I was told a couple of months ago to stock up on certain things, and I did... now they are saying some of those drugs aren't affected. :/
oh and thank you for the links 🙂
sorry removed so it can't be used for collection of narcotics or other street style drugs.

er, highly illegal....but don't worry, you get all the meds you require, on the house when your locked up in Kingston Pen! 😀
(seriously though, this is criminal activity....be very careful)

The one thing they would look for is if you have the meds in your possession. If you do, you would just get a "Ok dude, next time don't do that" but, if you didn't have the meds then you would be in trouble.
sorry to learn about you mother Oldschool. my momther is on diabetes meds and has no drug plan so i buy three months worth at a time and a year of testing supplys for her and keep it stocked up at all times just in case, i also have to make sure she rotates it properly. But only because I would die with out her chocolate chip cookies. LOL kidding!
:twisted:I`m not carzy everyone else is!

Really? I thought it was a brilliant idea. I have to get a prescription renewed by my doctor next week and was going to ask for 3 months worth times the 3 refills.

yep it is called 'doctor shopping' can't remember the exact charge but its an off shoot of fraud...i charged someone with it about 4 years ago.....howvever, if you were doctor shopping for cancer medication or insulin and had cancer or diabetes you would not be getting arrested or charged, just given words of advice. the young lady i charged was doing it to build up a sizeable amount of methadone to sell to drug addicts. she went to three walk in clinics, got three scripts taking one to shoppers and the second to rexall. then the next morning she took the third script to another shoppers, but unfortunatly the pharmist (who owned both shoppers) was working in that one that day. the pharmist told her they were waiting for the delivery guy to drop off supplies and he'd be 10 - 15 minutes. i was there in 5.....
now if your doctor gives you three refils, ten refils, a million refils....no offence. your doctor can decide and if he decided your idea to prep is just common sense he can prescribe whatever he wants.

Can you reference this somewhere...because unless it's a strictly controlled drug I believe you a wrong.
I do this all the time with my family doc who is also a pharmacologist, and my two specialists and they know I'm doing it...and I use the same pharmacy for ALL my medications...and they go through the husband's medical plan and not one agency has balked.
You may be confusing "best practices" policy with law.
ETA I have gotten prescription for the same drug, with refills from both the family doc and the specialist...and they all go through the same pharmacy and they just fill the script and add the repeats into their computer file on me and I can get repeats at will with no hassle. Nobody questions me as to whether or not I'm on schedule or ahead of schedule and the print out they give me has all the dates every time I get it filled. This is how people have a supply of necessary drugs available at their homes and at their places of employment so they don't get caught short due to schedule conflicts like working overtime/extra hours or being stuck at work etc if trains are off schedule etc.
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband

Without trying to sound rude you should try reading ALL the posts I made on this subject.
Under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, it is an offence to seek or obtain a controlled drug from a doctor without advising the doctor of any other controlled drug you have obtained in the previous 30 days. For Schedule I drugs (narcotics are classified as such) this is a hybrid offence that could net $1000 fine and/or 6 months in jail on conviction, or seven years imprisonment on indictment. Doctors of course are obligated to ask whether you are taking narcotics before writing a prescription for them.
In your situation, your medical practioners are aware of all the facts therefore you CANNOT be found guilty of this offence. They can be found guilty of negligence, even manslughter if you overdose from their overprescription. Now go to a second doctor and don't tell him about the first....bingo, 6 months first offence.
Remember most prescribed medications contain opiates (schedule 1 Controlled Substance, example T3's) and if its a prescribed medication, ie you need a 'prescription' from a medical professional then the 'drug' is a "strictly" controlled substance (Schedule 3 best case scenario, example any Steroid not containing opiates) under the Controlled drug and Substance Act 96....no matter what that drug is and therefore you cannot have it in your possession unless its in the sealed container from that pharmacy, bearing the serial number, your name, dob, what the substance is and the quantity...if thats not on the bottle...criminal offence!!!
Furthermore, Entropy even states "i never got caught" in his/ her text...this means he/ she is aware they are commiting an offence...however, i again refer to my earlier post you are not going to get charged for trying to stock up on (for example) cancer medication...and its exactly what i would do if one of my family were ill....the risks be damned!!!

lol, i'm not doing it any more. . .
but what's illegal about it? i'm not double doctoring! that's illegal, i'm taking my Rx, written by my doc to my pharmacy and getting it filled. i'm not using fake Rx. sometimes i use another pharmacy because i'm at "wal mart" but i like the other one better. . . oh shit i have some at the other store too. lol. or my wife uses one place, i don't like walmart, i asked her to pick it up and i guess i have Rx at both oh no.
these meds aren't narcotics, they are for a medical condition. if there was ever a shortage i won't be a burden to the system. oh i can justify this into the ground lol.
