thanks WR much appreciated. If you guys do this again, I'll take you up on your offer. BTW is there a regular get together for this group?
I used to help host regular meetings, though when my Buddy shut down his business our location became problematic so no regular meetings were scheduled. Now that I am moving up to the Greater Timmins area, no time for me to do meetings anymore.
The meeting today was very good, decent turnout and all quality people, even the drag alongs 🙂
Very nice to meet the people you speak with or read posts here, so it has become very much more personal and friendly. Loads of participation, great talk by the Owner of Richters, so much new info to think about and great ideas from him on types and reasons for the Herbs presented. All in All an A+ for the meeting !
Great meet. The talks were all very informative. "My driver" enjoyed the people and the talk as well.
As promised here is my Great (great) Aunt Isabelle's carrot salad recipe. I doubled it for the meet as it doesn't make a lot.
1 lb carrots, sliced, cooked but not soft
1 onion thinly sliced (raw) - I chopped it too
1 cup sliced celery (raw)
Dressing (not cooked)
1/2 tin tomato soup
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup salad oil (I used extra light virgin olive oil)
1/3 cup vinegar
1/4 tsp pepper
Mix together & pour over prepared veggies. Stir well to mix. Keep refrigerated.
congrats, it sounds like you had a wonderful time and get togther!

One question, how long do you "blanch" 😉 the carrots for?
They were soo good and crunchy, I wouldnt want them soggy.
No disrespect to Aunt Isabelle, but im going to rename this "Eric's Oldschool Carrot Salad". 😛
To anyone who wasn't there, you should really try this recipe, it didnt look like anything special when i saw it, but man was it tasty!!
Like the "new" name.
I cheated for the carrots. I just put them in cold water in the pot, on med high heat and waited until the water came to a full boil. I think I gave it about 2 minutes at a boil then cold water rinsed them to stop the cooking.
Glad you liked the salad.
I liked it too! So simple and I can see it being my go-to potluck recipe! Thanks oldschool.
