A few pointers from RT News on Ebola https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pew6twSLIoA
Seems undressing is a factor to worry about too!
First ebola case in the United states? Lest we forget Reston Virginia 1989? The U.S. has been playing with the virus in labs long before 2014... I'm curious... Why would a "subsidiary" of bill gates need a patent on the Ebola virus? Not a patent on a cure?.... Hmmmm...
I have a idea,, how about those that smoke and voluntarally take years off thier life and those around them have no say whats so ever in this ebola thing... Doesnt smoking demonstrate that you have no rational thought proceses...who's with me on this..
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.

What about gluttons who eat fast food everyday? Does that demonstrate the same irrational thought process? Do the obese have no say as well?

Foods needed...moderations the problem, those around the over eater dont have thier health harmed with each bite.
Just wondering how many that are all worried about Ebola killing them are smokers, it would be a interesting study dont you think? maybe not interesting to the smokers but to others
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Each of us are quite aware that we have an Achilles heel that is our weak point which can be capitalized on by others. But rational thought is there to help us avoid these pitfalls if we use this thought process. I was heavily addicted to smoking for 10 years and now preclude that I could likely become addicted to other such demons if I experimented. But in turn, I will definitely not promote smoking or say even offer a beer to an known alcoholic either.
Yet we have GMO's and MSG's in our food because certain people are not doing their jobs properly. Laws are being written to harm the majority of the people and only those on top seem to know what is truly bad for you. Do you think everyone became fat and lazy overnight for the majority of the population to become obese in just a 10 year period? It is obviously in the food we eat!
Do you think we have the ability to quarantine this Ebola outbreak? There are so many restrictions and high tech equipment in place at all airports, border crossing and such that we could contain this if we really tried. I'm betting that were not really trying! I note all the procedures and protective gear we see being used regarding the handling of Ebola patients and yet they downplay it's contagiousness when officials state with confidence that it is not airborne. I know that they are just taking all precautions, but it doesn't instill faith in those watching does it? Just as the local medical staff here themselves didn't accept the H1N1 vaccination while they told the populace to get it, this Ebola outbreak has me confused as to the contradictions I already see in play.
If experts truly believe that this may become a pandemic, enforce a mandatory 21 day isolation for any travelers abroad from risky areas. Enforce the equivalent lock down to anyone who came in touch with those known infected. Do as China did and even lock down a whole town to contain it's borders if need be. It seems that Vulcan logic " For the good of the many" would be use use at such times, yes?

I'm one - I'm a total nic fiend, and a caffeine addict despite what each and the combo do to my joints and healing ability.
But I also smoke on a porch to avoid killing the other people and the pets in the house, and I have years and decades before cancer gets me. Also, while I'm out of shape now, I used to smoke more (1.5-2 pk/day) and was still running 6-11 mi/day, turned in 18:30-19:00 3-mi times, and did the NATO O-crs in less than 4 min. with a pack, and at the time was backpacking and stalk hunting extensively.
Ebola is not the way I'd like to go.
Terminal cancer (which I can also get from all kinds of other things in daily life and which gets people who never smoke, eat organic and raw and Paleo diets, and don't work in higher risk occupations) gives me a chance to go out my way, and without spreading it to the people I love.
I'm terrified of that "type" disease, and furious at current stupidities with ebola, paying more and more attention with more and more worry, but at the same time, I'm not yet truly worried that ebola is going to get to me or mine or even my area (if we will stop flying patients around willy nilly, anyway). So I don't know if I actually count.

The US is refusing to place a travel ban on West Africa, even though most Eastern and Southern African countries have.
The US is relying on screening travelers for high temperatures, even though this is ineffective against people who have been exposed and are carrying, but not yet showing symptoms.
Under current policies, the chance of more transmissions from West Africa to the US (and beyond) are highly possible.
If there was an alert system for preppers, I'd say we are at a mild amber alert, meaning put your preps in order for possible lockdown. Back in the days of polio and measles, this was a routine occurrence. To reduce exposure, one would avoid public places such as movie theatres and buses.
When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fail, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

I like this idea of an 'alert level' although everyone has their own threshold I guess. I am already avoiding large gathering myself and carrying wipes & sanitizer everywhere.

Hope we never need either one...

This is becoming a perfect example of why we prep. Not a theoretical model, but a real one.
Update: The President of Liberia now says Ebola has "brought the country to a standstill."
Panic is now taking over and people in the infected zone are not showing up for work. Transportation and food distribution are breaking down.
"The basic necessities of survival in Liberia -- food, transportation, work, money, help from the government -- are rapidly being depleted," wrote Fred Barbash for Washington Post.
As it turns out, forcing people to stay home for days at a time while government workers go door to door searching for Ebola patients -- this recently occurred in Sierra Leone -- tends to create mass hysteria.
According to the IMF, countries like Liberia are having trouble not only producing enough food to feed people but also maintaining an adequate distribution system to deliver what little food exists. It is a progressively cascading crisis that is causing sharp food price increases and resultant "panic buying" as locals struggle just to survive.
Getting around is also difficult, as transportation systems are quickly degrading in response to rising fuel costs. According to WP, fuel sales have already plunged by as much as 35 percent in some areas, suggesting that people are now having to stay home with no viable way to get to work, even if they wanted to.
"The services sector, about half of Liberia's economy, employing about 45 percent of the work force, has experienced a drop in turnover of 50 to 75 percent," added Barbash.
In neighboring Sierra Leone, emergency food rations were distributed for a third day Sunday to give a nutritional lifeline to 260,000 residents on the outskirts of the capital, Freetown.
Note: Liberia once had 3,000 medical doctors, but by the end of its civil war, which ended 11 years ago, the country had just 36. Residents are mostly on their own for routine medical care.

Some good news: <<<today, in a remarkable display of how to beat the lethal virus, both Nigeria and Senegal have defeated their Ebola outbreaks. The World Health Organization announced on Friday that the outbreak was officially over in Senegal, and it is expected to make the same declaration for Nigeria on Monday.>>>
Some more optimistic news. Nigeria hasn't had a new case of Ebola in 6 weeks. WHO saying they are Ebola free.
Also the 20 some odd people in the US that were exposed to the Nigerian diplomat who flew over some weeks ago are no longer in quarantine and cleared of Ebola. The Spanish nurse who contracted the disease has recovered as well.
That being said, Liberia, Sierra Leonne still have significant numbers of Ebola cases. Wait and see...

The sick room is a good article. I already fail, as there is only 1 bathroom in the house.
I know folks may not like this article because it is Fox news but the message is to relax somewhat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2KBfynW09I
He points out that alot of hype has been added regarding this as elections are near and explains why... just some more food for thought !
I say this not to alarm but to inform.
The Spanish Flu of 1918 came in three waves. It showed up in America in the spring of 1918, and then came back months later in mutated form, stronger and more deadly, capable of infecting those who had already had it and should have had immunity. The third wave came around in January and February 1919, again mutated.
It disappeared in 1920, either mutating to a less virulent form or disappearing altogether. In spite of the reassurances given by health authorities, at no time was it under human control.
