It's absolutely true that hunting is certainly a learned art that is frustrating, challenging but also exhilarating.. Even the best and most experienced can easily come home empty and other days nothing seems to go wrong. It really isn't about providing protein. It's probably less expensive to go shopping than it is to hunt or fish.
Keep at it though, there's nothing like being out there except perhaps being out there carrying home your catch.
farmgal made me hungry with those awesome pictures (stop that!) 😀 and recipes, time to head to the stove but I'll have to settle for partrige. You must have one lucky fella there farmgal.
Rifle season for deer starts next week where I hunt and I took the week off to get out there seriously for the first time in many years. I've had a stand out since bow season started but it's been miserable and raining every time I've been out so far.
Haven't seen more than fairly fresh tracks. I know the population is low this year where I am so I didn't get a doe tag. I'll be splitting time between the stand and another spot that needs a 100+ yd shot.
I went out for the first time this season. Saw 2 spike bucks and a doe. Next time.

Heck yes. I'm not giving up, I want to be successful and that, like anything else, takes practice!
