Hey There 🙂

We are in Quinte heading more towards the county. We bought this house about a year ago and Ibecame a prepper more officially about 6 months ago. The weather and solar activity really sparked the desire in me and of course my kids. My husband is also starting to get into as of recently. Hope to meet a few preppers and swap some neat ideas 🙂 I have started the dog carting to travel easy if we ever need to leave the house. I have tried to discuss my plan with family & friends to see if they wished to pool resources and they think I am cracker jacks however I believe my kids with get the prize out of this box 😆 I have so many ideas on the go and I am also a DIY kind of person. My poor hubby never knows what to expect out of me but givres me freedom to do as I see fit for the betterment and safety. We are in the process of making a bilage pump but still are trying to establish water purifucation ideas. I sometimes may spell incorectly rest assured not due to ignorance but a wonderful gift via a tick from not long ago. Anyway I guess that is all for now I hope to share much information back and forth. I know I have much to learn but home to help someonr else some time too 😀

Feather 🙂

Howdey and welcome;
Never mind on the spelling, I normally will put the post into word or outlook and get it to help in that regards, myself. Perhaps you can start a thread on Lyme disease then, most in Canada do not know to much about it, and ALL Doctors will refuse to test for it here! This year will be real bad for Ticks and Fleas due to the whole warm weather thing.

Last year I lost most of my memory, and facial recognition, math ability and I even spell worse than before and that was bad enough, so, I think content wins over spelling any-day. You can see the underlined spelling mistakes here, sometimes though it is wrong and the word is spelled correctly, just hit the right mouse key, see the options.

Carting, funny you should post that, I was just looking over some info on that and dry land sledding as well as Sulky myself today in fact. Did you make your own Harness or did you buy one, get one gifted? Any info on where to get one or buy one is much appreciated.

You might want to go easy on telling people you prep, just point out when the situation arises, say Movie or TV ad or news article on a Disaster or situation, then ask what they think on it, or wow, wonder if anyone there was prepared for that. See what the answers and looks are like then.
Cheers and Welcome ~WildE

If you can't find what you're looking for or can't figuire something out, just put it out there and in most cases you'll have several people offering experiences and, or links. Thank you Wildernessreturns for the welcome, huge sympathies on your medical issues 🙁 . We all learn to compensate though huhh 😉

I am still somewhat new to Lyme but enjoy learning and research. Not really sure what to say but can definately answer questions 🙂 my doctor tested for it but he was new here from overseas so has now gotten his hand slapped probably. In all honesty the Canada Elisa test is an absolute joke nad gives an accuracy of about 30% I had my tick with just the butt hanging out and only knew it was there because I am allergic to arachnids and they are in that family. The best info I can suggest is prevent them !!!!!
1)Where light colors
2)tuck you pants in at the ankle
3)wear bug spray
4)check yourself Well
5)when removeing them from human or pet they will be covered in stomach contents so wash your hands
6)above all remove them correctly which will really help reduce the chance of transmission
7)never salt, gassoline, burn, pull, pinch, match, spray or anything else to them or they Will usually spit there contnts into you
*remember spring they can be really really really tiny so really look and

The Sulky I have is a Milenium Mini one with independant suspension. I am useing a rough Collie and it is an improvised harness. We are going to use it for item transfer. Honestly I would build one, the independant suspension is cool but the sulky was over $3000 as it is no weight on the dogs back.

I have learned really quickly to not talk about it anymore with people but now I have found a lovely friendly bunch to chat with 😀 .

Once again thanks for the welcome

Welcome Feather.

There was a gentleman who had a post covering lyme desease. Most symtoms are flu like and are usually passed of as such. It can be very dangerous if left unchecked for a prolonged period. And yes the little ones are hard to even see. There is a specialty tweeser for them. They should be twisted until they release. This is why normal tweasers sometimes fail. It can be difficult to articulate the wrist fully.

Anyways. It is that time of year where we will all be going outdoors more, and they may be eceptionally bad due to the warm winter. The Ministry of Natural Resources somtimes has bullitins posted from reports by hunters.

Cheers

Unfortunately the ministry does not post bulletins with BC being an exception a few times and Nova Scotia that regards Canada is crappy. Yes a twist is correct but never with hands. There is actually a key chain 'tick remover' that you can buy for a couple of dollars just google it. I was treated relatively quick with a 6 week doxy and am currently on Vitamin C, D, Calcium, yogurt, Brocolli, celery,Tomato, Parsley and oils. The parasites if have 10+ hours in your body they are no longer free range and go into tissue where they actually start do divide and imbed in white cells so as to fool the imune system into thinking they are a natural part of the system. The first two tissues involved are first the brain then the eyes. After the tick was removed and I was treated for an arachnid reaction I had no symptoms at all. I never even got the bullseye rash. I now have a list of symptoms that we treat symptomatically. There is many ideas of ways to treat it but nothing truely is a guarantee some never get it, some recover and some are chronic with varying degree. However on my 4th day of max treatment when the was a massive die off I got very seriously ill. I have had Norwalk and H1N1 and this was way worse. That was the first time the doxs suspected I had it as of jarisch herxheimer reaction. Since then it is part of me the pain, exhaustion, aphasia and imaginary illnesses which are real to my brain but not my body. There is nothing I can do so I might as well suck it up and do my best and really love my good days 🙂 I

G'day Feather - I'm fairly new to this site and I'm not even Canadian! I'm really interested in your "dog sulky" - I can't find anything like that here and so I'm going to have to try and build one myself. Please, please, please is there any chance of seeing a photo of it? (I've got a rottweiler X who needs the extra workout - she has muscles on her muscles- and I have to run her hard every day for about 1.5 hours)

and for the Gardeners out there

Suz,
my Rotti Cross that I had, loved to pull things. I let her pull rocks, small trees logs. At the time I lived in BC and picked up a great mutli purpose body halter for dirt cheap. Years ago.

Now I am on the look out for an older Wheel Chair, since it is almost identical to the Sulky pic. At auctions here they give them away sometimes for a dollar to five dollars! Quick mods and off to the Dog Races 🙂

WR
My dog is Identical to the dog in the pic that is too funny.
I was thinking of that being another one to hehehe only instead of a seat a basket. The only disadvantage to chairs is the suspension is not quite as good but super cool idea. PS.I love rottis

Prepher Nice to meet you, 🙂 it is kinda awesome to see estrogen here 🙂 LOL
