Hi Feather - I'm a newbie too. I would never have thought of putting a harness and cart on our Tanner-dog, he is one of those 'big headed' yellow labs, weighs 100 lbs. But I bet I could! Thanks for the idea.

WR - great idea about the wheelchair...might be easier than making my own dog cart! Question: Would it be necessary to install brakes on the cart/wheelchair? (I don't intend to use the cart for people moving, but my terrier might decide he's had enough walking/running and decide to ride in style!) My Rotti X is female too (2.5 years old now, terrier is male and 7 years old)

you need brakes, they have a mind of their own, dogs and horses.
Wheel chairs already have brakes on them, so another advantage there. Some of the chairs even the front wheels come off easy and it would be short work to fix on a rail bar.

Welcome to the network! I am fairly new as well but I have been working my way through the old postings and have already picked up a lot of useful information.
Along the lines of what Wild said earlier... the prepping idea is usually met with either ridicule or scepticism. I get teased by the few people who know what I am doing but they will be the same ones lining up at my door if we ever have another major ice storm or other catastrophy.

The Lyme disease thing stresses me out. We are building in the middle of nowhere this year and I am worried about ticks. Our area is all wooded and although we did the majority of the clearing over the winter, there is still so much to do in the trees and long grasses. In addition, I live in the 1000 Islands region which is apparently the hot zone for ticks and Lyme disease. I already worry about meteors, EMP strikes, fallout, plague and the zombie apocalypse... now I have to worry about ticks too! hahaha

Anyway, welcome to the site!

Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you are well on your way to prepping! I understand wanting to get family and friends involved, I have tried as well to no avail. Mine all think I am wacky too. lol Oh well, most now know if the SHTF my door will be closed (unfortunately) due to the fact that I am prepping for 4, no extras who didn't want to help out.
I know stock pile what I can when I can and use the excuse that "It's a great sale" or "I am making ________ and need a few of these and the extras are for next week" when I have someone with me shopping.
So, another from the East part of Ontario... awesome 🙂 and no worries on the spelling or typos... we all do 'em!
