Is anyone interested in an Ottawa area meet-up? Last spring we (well, Farmgal, her DH, and myself showed up) had a meet-up at an Ottawa restaurant for lunch. Then we had a outdoor summer get together with many more preppers.....
Since there are so many new members, I'm wondering if anyone is interested in getting together for lunch at a Kanata restaurant for a 'meet & greet' in the next 6 weeks? Farmgal can't make it on any March weekends and I get busy starting the 3rd week in April. Please comment. 🙂

I would go to a meeting in Kanata. I don't know how much I could bring in way of information as I am pretty new to prepping, but would love to share ideas.

I would try. March 29 and April 6/7 don't work for me.

I'll try to be there as well. I work many Saturdays and that would be the only reason I can't make it. Go ahead and schedule what works for most and if I can't be there in person, I'll be there in spirit!! 😀

Ok, just from reading what the others have said, and having a good hard look at my own commitments, how about sunday the 14th of april!

that gives everyone a good amount of time to book it and plan it, say 11:30 for lunch and a visit.. what say you? Does this date work for those interested in coming out?

I think that date sounds good Farmgal, with one exception: I'd like to begin at 11 because I have to leave just after 1 p.m. to get back home to pick up my son from work (we have no buses out here).... it'll give us even MORE time to chat! Now where........ ❓

No problem, 11 works great.. I would ideally like to keep it at the same place as last year, if we have folks coming ranging from montreal to kingston to arnprior and further, it very much a meet in the middle spot and its easy to get to off the queensway and its right by costco if anyone wants to do a run there before or afterwards..

I was thinking that it would be fair to have it further west this time (just off the 417) - hoping that some peeps from west of Ottawa will attend.
I was anticipating a shorter drive home from the west end as well as I have to work around driving/picking my son up from work (split shift)

So did you have a place in mind then, something easy to spot right off that queensway with a easy on and off?

Not really, but the Terry Fox exit has lots of restaurants in the 'Centrum Mall' ( http://www.yellowpages.ca/search/si-dyw/1/Restaurants/Kanata+Centrum+Shopping+Centre%2C+Marchwood-Lakeside%2C+Kanata%2C+ON ) to the right while if you turn left and go over the Queensway and down a two lights there's a Swiss Chalet and East Side Marios, I think, among others. ( http://www.tribute.ca/restaurants/amc-kanata-24---empire-theatres-kanata/amcka24/ ) . Once we have some idea of the number of people attending, we can make a reservation.
What's the preference?
P.S. I like Swiss Chalet - first meet was at SC. And on a Sunday at 11 a.m. it will likely be open and not so busy as in the Mall. 😉

I haven't got a clue where you are talking about. Got a more specific address to google? There are a lot of Swiss Chalets it seems. For me it depends on how long it will take to get there. 11am is going to be difficult.

Odd Duck, I am not going to be any help at all on where that swiss is at, Prepher is going to have the info on how to figure out a address to give, as I know barely how to get to the one that we went to last year.. (what can I say, I don't go to the city much LOL)

As for getting there on time, please don't let that stop you from coming, if you can't get there till noon, I am sure that there will those of us, myself included that can stay that extra hour of visiting time to make it worth your while..
