I just found this site while I was looking for some info on the idea that opening windows in your home will help prevent the walls from being blown out if a tornado strikes. I remember my parents saying that when I was growing up. Apparently not true. Turns out a thin pain of glass is one of the weaker links in your home. 😀 Who'da-thunk-it?

According to this page, the Northern part of your basement (or building if you don't have a basement) is one of the safer spots if you don't have an actual tornado shelter. Others being under the basement stares, under a work bench...
