There is a presentation about passive house designs at the Brockville Public Library this Sunday at 2:00p.m. It is put on by Transition Brockville. I have been to their presentations before (the Cam Mather one was great) and they are always coming up with new topics that would appeal to some of the posters on this site.
The president, Hugh Campbell, has done made a homestead in the middle of the city- garden, root cellar and more. Most of them are more concerned about peak-oil and climate change, but from what I have seen there is a lot of overlap between this site and their efforts.
