I was just at Giant Tiger in Eastern Ontario and they have Primo Pasta, 900 g size, on sale for $0.99. I bought some for now and lots for "later" as the expiration date is 2015. Went over to Food Basics next and the same pasta was $1.99....
You might want to add to your Preps.
Thanx prepHer....will certainly get on that .....great savings! I picked up a couple cases of Campbells soup yesterday at Foodland (near Belleville)...good price @ .47 per tin...and the sale is over tomorrow. Last week I needed one tin for a receipe and had to pay $1.29!! Thanx again.
if stored in the original package i'm sure you could get much longer out of the pasta then 2015.
once opened as long as it's not sitting in water, i'm sure you'd get a number of years out of it in a food/pasta container.
i've bought pasta in bulk from the LDS bishops store house in 25lbs boxes, i repack them in 5 gal buckets, inside a sealed mylar bag, with O2 absorbers. BYU's studies show that it'll keep for 30 years, stored in a cool dry place.
buy lots...

If you store it in it's original packaging on a shelf in a cool place for more than about 6 months past the BB date...I've found they just don't cook up properly and never seem to soften right.
I do think I'll try it with the mylar though....just have to buy some bags 😉
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
spaghetti sauce was on sale for 66 cents a can this week at No Frills in southern Ontario
We used to LOVE Prego spaghetti sauce. Last year, we found a source for almost free tomatoes and started processing our own. Just a few weeks ago we bought another jar of prego. Couldn't wait for the treat but... Yuck. I couldn't believe what a difference a year of homemade sauce would do to our tastes. We are ruined now and just made ourselves double the work come garden season (and canning season).
One day, the lowly farmer will be King
