Great,
This weekend was supposed to be the deadline for an offer on the property from the U.S ,...Or, a conditional offer from us.
This was a surprise sprung on us about 10days ago.
We've been scrambling to re-excite our 101 members to find those who see the potential to commit pledges for their shares NOW, while it's still easier....even if individual plots are used for seasonal camping, designing your space, and gradually building the infrastructure.
Along with this we were in the middle of revising our criteria and framework, including financial protocols.
So, parts of what we would send by PM would be incomplete, but still a lot of info to mull over....to get some further picture. Will send it shortly.
Still a bit distracted for a few days....
I'm still dealing with some personal aftershock since one of my trailers was stolen on wed. from my locked-chain garden space, along with a lot of my best livelihood tools on board. about 12k worth.
This is one more reason for the security of a private village where folks have each others' back ,...and at least a watchful , diligent eye on the fringes, and a half-dozen good dogs. Don't get me started about the inherent expense of security required if you live in an average town/burbs. It's a crazy misappropriated waste.
Actually, i'll take the opportunity to describe, cuz it could be anywhere in ON, or Quebec.....
Reward.
Black, yr. 2000 Continental 7x14 tandem, plus wedge nose front, barn doors, new tires/white rims.7000# capacity.
12"Ridgid mitre saw with roller stand, Bosche 10" gravity rise portable table saw, Mikita chop saw, blue/white princess auto 3500 watt genny, Hilti hammer/coring drill, countless other small tools in waterproof fatmax boxes, big selection fasteners.,
3-ton hydr. floor jack....etc.etc.
Sorry to hear about your loss :S People are unbelievable. Are there any identifying marks that would really stand out on the trailer? a large scratch or anything that could give a clue as to distinguish it from others?
On topic, as mentioned above, my wife and I are very interested in becoming part of a prepared community and investing in at least 1 plot but we need more info. Shoot the 411 my way at your earliest convenience.
Cheers
Sent, ...villager
For those still interested in co-creating a diverse, sustainable, living village which will be well-prepared in all the ways leading to security :
We're about to make another move/offer on the land, but can't do it till we have about 130k more solidly pledged, since my 12k loss thru above-mentioned trailer theft....we're so close!...deadline now 1 week.... with one member willing/able to match highest pledges !
Let's create this unique situation along with other unique MAGS wherever they are, to form viable alternatives inspiring to others who long for it too.
I haven't scrolled back to sift through the messages to get a better description of your prospecting property, but I am interested in what you guys are joining together to purchase!
I see you still need $130K, I'm not offering that but I'm interested as to what you're purchasing..as I sell property and design retreats and would love to work with you and build you probably what you're trying to purchase now, for a fraction of the price. (I will state that I don't have any islands if that is what you're on the heels of purchasing! :P)

We're a group of (extra) ordinary folks who seek to live interdependently in as natural environment as possible, but still interface with local community to the extent that it doesn't compromise our security or life-values.
We can only design/create to the extent of what we can afford....and we have a realistic vision of those components. Even these will only be implemented gradually, as we explore the property features over time. We have enough info now to confirm our choice ... as long as it's available. It still is....and there is a contingency place. We constantly look for others, also.
However, one of our high-pledged members has just removed himself from the project, convinced that it's a "waste of time".
This seems easy to say for someone who has no financial concerns, and a dismissive mindset regarding those who have not played the parasitic games which accrue wealth without honour. So, we continue to seek our likeminded kind who inherently know where true wealth is ,... in skilled, interdependent sustainable living, upclose, yet with plenty of private space.
If you have any properties of interest, sure, i'd like to check them out if you could PM me.
Very intriguing. Good to see there's people out there actually doing something instead of romancing the ideas :D.
I just PM'd you as requested!

Love the idea. I have thought long on getting into a project like this. Sharing resources and ideas. I would love to hear more. Like, rough location, farming potential, etc. I know from farming in the north that only certain crops will survive. Pm me if you don't want to put your info on here. But either way I would love to hear more.
Old prepper with new ideas. Livin the dream. Live, Love, Laugh.
Thank God for everything.
Time for another update: The property is still available, after 2 yrs. on the market.
The agent made another proposition, but still unattainable for the present membership with means.
With news like the Japan wobble today, along with ever more incidents of decline, it's difficult to grasp why more folks are not more moved to "be the change", while their $ still has relative purchasing power. I've remortgaged the house to access a sufficient portion of the equity needed for my share of the acquisition, and that's what more need to do through this bleak winter. Then there is viable hope for a new spring/summer, starting main shelter/campsite , storage containers, as/if we have time.
We're planning on several facetime meetings during winter, to show/dialog our soon-updated shareholder/governance/agreement documents. All the while , many of us have been documenting/sharing various methods/tools of eco-sustainable living....while trying to "make a living" in this longtime temporary situation.
These are the important criteria for us; a whole vital living scenario , not based in , nor excluding any religious persuasion, but inspired by what proves to be true and relevant in practise...proven daily, over time. It requires significant fortitude to commit to that forum/process of greater objectivity....where collective wisdom can be proven, and coercive posturing is a hindrance...(except for absolute defense of such values. 🙂 Here's hoping there is enough time for this kind of scale/effort.
Villager - i have one suggestion.
Lay out the details in a much clearer fashion. You always type plenty of verbose prose... but never provide a concrete plan or details about what's involved.
I KNOW you're willing to provide such information through PM, but honestly, i think you're losing a lot of interested parties simply because what you're up to, what's being offered, what's being asked simply is not clear to anyone considering it.
I've said it before and i'll say it again. Your group needs to treat this as 100% business. You need a business plan and you need a marketing plan. That's the only way such undertakings provide the stability required to attract the right investors.
I have no doubt your intentions are honourable. But... they get lost in all the clutter.
It's coming... and it's going to hurt!
Thanks for the input, Oddmott, ...it's artistic prerogative 🙂
..... but i understand the mindset you emphasize as being necessary.
And, i've explained before that i can only put out so much, here, ...and you even acknowledge that i will provide more info thru PM (and the website) . Meanwhile, those who want to see thru the "prose" clues enough to go further, will do so.
You may be right about "anyone considering it", but i haven't taken a poll here 🙂
In any case, my reference to fence-sitting was in all directions/contacts/forums of varying levels of interest....in the face of the obvious happenings in the world!
As for a concrete plan, ....the concrete is still wet, and currently being co-formed with others inclusively in dialog.
I've had "a concrete plan" for ages, but it's not all up to me, ...rather it's current, collective wisdom, and the process of achieving that together, which provides an empowering basis for organic growth and incidental (st)ability.
While i get it that our structure needs to be financially viable , i also know that a strictly "100% business " posture most often brings with it an insensitivity in other valid value-components of community function. Our priority is to acknowledge/blend both, ...not to foster the usual posture as being dominant.
Notwithstanding,... as i also mentioned, we are working on a marketing plan, a legal structure, a business plan option, and finally getting some folks who are more fluent in those areas, and hopefully willing to contribute their time to document....translating our agreed parameters into simpler, understandable , and binding script.
Your own experienced input in this would be welcomed, also.
Now, having established an agreed structure, this will crack the concrete! :
No amount of wired rebar will prevent quaking /cracking in all situations.
SO , we also agree , in advance , to a process which will change the structure if we determine together, that it is inappropriate in changing circumstances.... We change from a hard floor to a floating boat.
Is such a provision a reassuring feature, or a red flag to one's sense of security?
Each one chooses their level of self-assurance, trust, and engagement.
Did you get any of this?...villager
Hey bud this is Henry. It is two years since we met and you are still in the same position you were than, not a step closer to be really preparing for any disaster.
Like I said before I am now completely independent and self sufficient, and trust me it takes many, many years to get to that point. You just lost two years .
Why do not you find a good partner and buy nice property up North and start real prepping. I see some time such a good deals on properties that is hard to believe.
As you get older trust me it is harder and harder to do the work changing wild bush into livable and self sufficient land.
More people you involve , more disagreements you will have. (just remember I was raised in communist system where everybody was equal IT DOES NOT WORK !!
To change the land (bush) it also takes lot of machinery and labor or many many thousands of dollars.
I would be glad to help you looked some land and give you some hints but I am getting too old for physical work.
Henry
Hi Henry, ....good to read from you again! I was looking at the land again last few months and thinking of you close by, but barely had enough time to explore the property.
I see that i have to re-state my intent in case it still seems that i'm trying to do what you think i'm doing. 🙂
My emphasis is on co-creating resilient community (not communism!) of many people, not just myself (and possibly a partner).
I am sure convinced of how hard it would be "change wild bush".... That's also why more, and younger, people are a physical bonus in the careful discovery how that is accomplished , to be sustainable. We were meant to live this way...something like a "tribe", but organized by pre-agreed criteria wherein any "dis-agreements" can be resolved.
This is more important to me than just personal preparation for coming tough events, and yes, this takes longer, as i expected. It requires more un-learning and a mindset change, by people who recognize this additional challenge and are willing to do this kind of pioneering work too. For real change, this is necessary.
Everybody was not "equal" in any system. It's a question of developing the ability to perceive what is most appropriate in any circumstance, individually and collectively. Not many have the patience nor the skills for that kind of living collaboration.
For many, it's good enough for just self and family to survive. Depending on commitment, much more is possible.
I intend to pursue this till my circumstances and time may not allow me to go any further. If/when that happens, then sure i would select a smaller plot , smaller scale, just a few friends. It's all based on genuine response to a shared vision of possibilities...and yes, enough $ to acquire land.
Someone offered me 100 acres recently, "free"...but with strings attached...expectations of various kinds,management/ business-wise, but in the end...ownership/profit rules in this world, for now. I declined it.
I've been looking at smaller plots at the same time , all along. It just bugs me that the smaller acreage price is SO much higher/acre than larger acres/space.
I would be glad to know of some deals, whenever you would share that...with or without a realtor.
Wishing you and family well!
Villager ,so you are not really into prepping but to start new society with pioneer life style. So be honest and do not talk about prepping.
If you paying attention to real news ,not the garbage on TV following the Hollywood mental cases you would know that politically, economically, morally and geologically we are at tipping point. I personally would not give it more than a year before something catastrophic happens.
i HOPE i AM WRONG but is my believe.
it is time to stop dreaming and face reality.
Henry
It does seem like a spaced out pioneer community of " Little Houses on the Prairie " except this is in the Bush .
Like building a little " village " in the bush.
