I do not plan on bugging in but I wont leave right away. I have 3 sons to feed and keep safe so I will say No. I will also be answering my door with my shot gun in hand.

A pump shotgun having a round jacked into the chamber is said to be the most recognized sound in North America. Perhaps pumping a round into the chamber just before you open the door will help those on the other side decide to use a friendly approach when you meet.
Also, if a child comes to your door, immediately send someone to cover the back. Misdirection is a favorite tactic used by many in any potential confrontation. In many conflicts (Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc.) children have been used as bomb carriers. Don't, for one instant, think that desperate people won't use them as distractions.

...or it could be law enforcement/ military doing a door to door trying to restore order/ ascertain where supllies are needed most and as soon as you 'pump a round' into the chamber, they pump one through the door into your face... 😈

Like i said i would not be hanging around long enough to see our great military going door to door. My older son is good with a gun and will be covering the back door if it was to happen. I got him a mossberg tactical 22 for christmas and put a side mount flashlight and front grip on it as well as a 2.5-10x40 scope. 😈 😈 😈 He enjoys shooting it and it looks like an AR15 so it is a real show stoper. Carbon is right, it would be a hard position to be in if it looked like the mill at the door. I dont know if i could trust they were real. It is easy to buy the bdu suits and stuff on line, it would be a good way to get into a home with out any resistance. Worth thinking about. I hope to be so far into the bush by then it wouldnt matter. The best thing you can do I guess is to make it seam like you have nothing so you can avoid dealing with it. Act like all the rest of the ppl on your street and they will think you are as bad off as them.

What if it's law enforcement/military. We can what if, every scenario to death. What if the tinfoil hatters are right and we get hit by Niburu? What if it goes down just like the movie 2012? Then we've wasted valuable time on this forum instead of with our families. Every scenario has flaws, that's why we have a little thing called judgement. What if TSHTF and I've walled myself in so tight that I don't even have a way to see who's standing in my front yard? Do I then earn the horses ass award or am I the smart one?
In every situation you have to gather what info you can in the time you have. If I step out my door and start in with my shotgun and find that I'm staring down the barrel of a 25mm chaingun on a LAV, then I'm too stupid to live anyway. There is no what if, there is only your best judgement call based on whatever information you're able to learn in whatever situation you're in.

That quote is so good you could even base your everyday life on it and it is especially appropriate in a SHTF scenario.
We are all responsible for making our own decisions and then of course living with (or possibly dying with) the consequences and that is one of the reasons I like this site. The answers to most of the posts give people different views on the subject and other opinions to think about.
Once a person is fully aware and as well as fully armed with as much knowledge as they can gather then there is a good chance that the decisions they make will be good ones and one’s that may very well save their and their families lives.
Not to be over dramatic but if in fact the fecal matter does wind up in the fan we may very well end up in a possible shoot first and ask questions later scenario where everyone not only should but needs to be aware of all people who enter onto their property and very quickly make a decision whether that person or persons means to take from or do harm to them and act accordingly. Considering that there will be no 911 to call that decision may very well save you and your families lives.
Hard times may well call for hard decisions.

only use pepper spray when SHTF, as using it is considered administering a noxious substance and you will be criminally charged, legally you can only use it on dogs or wild animals in defense. anything else is illegal even using it on someone else to save your life or someone else, though then you can argue the rule of 12 over 6 but i thought i would just inform so no one gets in trouble! 🙂
The Mil type at the door, might not be our military, but a rent a thug (para military or a Merc) that is hired by the Gov. Since we dont have an Army any more just a Military. (Army= 100,000). Thank PM Trudeau for this.

Well there are so many possibilities that you need to be ready for the worst case scenario. I would maybe try to communicate verbally without lowering and defenses. Don't open the door until you feel it is safe ask who it is and for them to state there buisness. Even get them to lift their shirt to determine if they are armed, find out what there objective is and proceed from there. If they want water and you are willing to provide it then have them back away to a great enough distence to place the water outside and resecure yourself before they could approach you. I think in a disaster situation a lot of people will band together and live in one place as a group it's more efficient and safer. Just my 2 cents
I think my response will depend on whether I'm alone or not.
If I'm alone then I won't open the door at all unless the person at the door has yelled my name out. My biggest worry in this situation is that a knock on the front door may an attempt to distract me from what is going on at the back door/basement windows/etc... I'd stay in a spot where I could monitor all entrances.
If I'm not alone then I'd post someone at the back door before I went to the front door to answer it. As before, I likely wouldn't open the door unless the person has identified me by name.
