Maple syrup is easy to make, lasts a long time and it is local. Birch sap is great too.
Honey is a stockable item as it does not go bad (if unopened)
I have traded with bee keepers before. Maple syrup I made for Honey they made lol

Try some of this with your apples.

Apple butter is a highly concentrated form of apple sauce produced by long, slow cooking of apples with cider or water to a point where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown. The concentration of sugar gives apple butter a much longer shelf life as a preserve than apple sauce.

Watching the latest Geoff Lawton video and Eric Toensmeier had sorghum growing in Michigan I think it was .
