These increases are an effect of the tarrifs. Remember, aluminum coming from Canada will cost more in the US for American buyers...there is NO direct effect on Canadian prices. These increases in Canada are to offset the decrease or loss of sales to American customers. There is no way to predict how much the increases to Canadians will be. It all depends how how many sales Canadian produces lose due to the tarrifs. Americans aluminum users could also see prices go up as cheaper Canadian aluminum no longer exists because of tarrifs being levied on American importers.
Tarrifs like this are a lose-lose situation for all.

Tarrifs like this are a lose-lose situation for all.

Everyone except the government. They get to collect money on everything imported into Canada subject to tariff. In turn, the taxpayers pay the higher costs for the U.S. tariffs.

The government can use the extra money to set-up overdose clinics and make sure Heroin is tested for impurities (Junkies have rights too). The paramedic costs to keep saving the OD 'victims' is skyrocketing. The money has to come from somewhere... 🙂

None you improvise, one (or more) is luxury.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/canada-tariffs-canned-goods-1.4768172

In a nut shell for those that do not want to go read the article, they are talking about the fact that there will be a one to three cent cost increase per can that is used. The big pop companies say they are going to raise price by one cent. Not such a big thing to me personally.. we are not pop drinkers per say.

However related to more folks and to preppers, the price of all canned food is expected to increase.. Was interesting that they did talk about where or not the stores would pass that one was still up in the air.. However the one bigger retailer is quoted as saying food prices will be going up.

I find this kind of funny honestly because canned goods have been going up steadily for the past months and years.. so its just keeping to the same trend.

As is often the case, there will be companies taking advantage and boosting the costs above the actual tariffs. Sad but human nature. I hope all tariffs and quotas all come down so costs and innovations triumph.
