The above link is a brief..and I mean a BRIEF overview of a bit of the government's contingency in Canada. Reading it can be scary or overwhelming. It can also be reassuring too. If finance isn't your cup of tea, thats ok. And relax, this is not a "doomsday" post from CBC, but something that we should be aware of anyways.
Thought it would be a nice read (very vague though) but I post it with two requests!
1)Please keep in mind it's a worse case scenario. Our government has in place a lot of contingencies that may never happen, but they are there nonetheless. Its called being prepared and mitigating damage. No different than a prepper gears for the worse and tries to make the best of it. It may never happen, but at least you have something in place.
2)We discuss a lot here about "prepping" with material goods and the such. There is also economic/financial well being that we can do to prep for the future. It doesn't necessarily have the same "in your face" style like a tornado, war or the such..but is still incremental to our well being in our society. I've seen a lot of prepper post about "getting debt free" and I couldn't agree more. That ability to be debt free will provide significant freedom and peace of mind. There is a lot of varying predictions on what will happen to the world economy. There have been recessions and depressions before. And they will happen again. In North America and Europe we seem to forget about the emerging economies that are on fire right now and that it's not all doom and gloom in the world. However, burying your head in the sand would not be prudent either. If you invest, talk to your agent. Diversify. Look at different global markets. Tell them your woes and what you need to get into that comfort zone.
Enjoy the post. Hope its something you find worthwhile. Hope it doesn't bring out the conspiracy theories.. 😆

Less than 100k in the bank* 🙂 try just enough to cover the bills.
*Cash on hand from a personal cash dispenser (gun safe) It's always closed, but I have a key!
not to mention...RRSP's, GIC's, and savings turned to gold (as if Midas had leafed through my financials), and various other items of value like food, water and land.
Quite relaxed, thank-you!
One day, the lowly farmer will be King
Sadly, it was others 'relaxing' that lead us up to this point where it's not a matter of 'if' things collapse but when. Far too many regular people put their trust in others to manage the affairs of state - including financial matters - and we are indeed on the brink of a system failure. It's too bad that if one or two people question how 'things' are going, we are ignored or labeled cranks.
