Anybody know if a vacuum sealer will extend the shelf life of various foods like crackers, etc., and if so, for how long?
It will extend the "quality" in my experience. Things like crackers that may go stale or soft. But my biggest problem with vacuum sealers for items not going in a deep freezer..the cost to do the vacuum sealing does not offset the extra 6 months or year you could extend some perishable foods. I"m a big proponent of long term storage (+20years) where you can store and essentially forget it, as well as the rotation of stocked foods as part of day to day use. But the vacuum sealing will work to an extent for what you want to do...but it may be a bit of effort/money for little return.
Just my two cents.
