Ha-ha...usually a pile of fencing gear, musical instruments, dirty tissues and assorted empty drink bottles etc

I figure if I've got to bug-out from here then the world is stuffed already and there won't be anywhere left to bug-out to.

I want in on the open trunks and compare 🙂 But only if its not right after DH has moved stuff out of the Van AGAIN to haul feed etc, otherwise, boy am I going to be sad LOL I have got him slowly trained not to move out the smaller box's and kits behind and under the seats but my big box's and gear is a running battle on being in or out.. he is better in winter but summer is harder for him to leave it be..

Something else I keep in the car is a heater. I've made an insulated alchol heater that sits in the drink holder. Its adjustable to control heat and burn time.

In the car, I have the very basics, in a milk crate. The one thing that I havent seen anybody post is windshield reflectors. You know the type I mean, foil on one side and a foam plastic on the other. I have 2 of these in my car all year long. You talk about insulated space blankets, well these are double duty. They're great at reflecting heat away or back at you, have one of these under you if your forced to sleep on the ground. The other one you can wrap around you or have it reflecting heat from a fire. @$2 ea or less, you would be a fool not to have a few. :geek:

Other stuff such as heavy winter clothing, boots and a really heavy duty old sleeping bag, extra socks ...

I always have a Get Home Bag; its good for about a 12 hour walk. I also stock certain seasonal items in the car; either as just a supply point or as transportation (in case of a CME and things aren't ticking).
The Bag contains basic things; light, food, water and fire, bug spray and sun block etc Dont forget the lip balm .
In the summer I keep in the car a light jacket, garbage bags, rope (400 lbs test), batteries, a small stove and fuel. I also have a air compressor if I'm driving and have an issue. Always a case of water and means of boiling it. Mr noodles is a favorite and I keep several there as well. A battery powered radio is a must, sleeping bag and actually an umbrella (for sun shade). Tarps. Extra flash lights and utility knife (Swiss Army style). More fuel for my stove.
In the winter I carry all this as well as a parka, extra hat/mitts etc. Extra fuel for the stove, a winter sleeping bag. Dont forget your cell phone charger. I'm sure there are a few extras hidden back there but I make sure I keep all the above.

Its bascally a tin soup can full of house insulation with another can into it also full of house insulation. There are two versions:
1. you just add methol hydrate to the top can and burn it .
2: what I do is put a pressurized beer can alcohol stove right inside the top can (the home made type you see on line http://zenstoves.net/BasicPressureBurner.htm#BasicPressureJetStove ).
Lot of heat and very little noxious fumes, just water and co2 so leave your windows cracked. Sits right in the cup holder and doesnt get too hot on the bottom can. Methyl hidrate is fondu fuel and can be purchased at the hardware store in the varnish thinner area. Great portable cheap fuel.
