I sent DH to get 3 or 4 ammo cans - he came home with 8. I have him well trained huh??
A paycheque. Just need to find the time to spend it on preps!

-12 lbs of dried/frozen yellow beans

One day, the lowly farmer will be King
Picked up a couple used Coleman 2-burner stoves for killer deals at yard sales on Saturday plus some other camp/ outdoors gear for just silly low prices. Harvested a few veggies from our garden. Put on two batches of home made beer (a fellow has to have a beer now and then after all).Looking around for a wood stove for out in the shop next.
Oh, also made a few fire starters and a few "Tuna can stoves" if you know what those are.
Canned pumpkin on sale...the big cans of pure pumpkin that will make two pies per can, or a massive quantity of soup.
Realized today I hadn't gotten to Fortinos (Loblaws family of stores) and today was the last day of the sale so hubby went and grabbed some cans.
I noticed that the new flyers have it on sale this week so I hope to pick up another few cans.
I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
6 kg of cheese wax. Going to try something new.
Well...Wholesale Club had the 50 count boxes of single serving Carnation hot chocolate $2 off a box so I picked up 6 boxes @ $6.99 ea. and works out cheaper than the grocery store cannister per serving even on sale (at last years prices anyway).
They also had an excellent deal on Jello when you bought in multiples of 8 ...65 cents each...and they have a BB dates well into 2015 so I got 8 each of grape, strawberry-banana and Berry Blue (raspberry/blackberry flavour).
Bought at 2.84 L can of pineapple pieces to dehydrate and a 7lb/3.18kg can of refried beans that will go into the dehydrator to make instant powdered refried beans.
2 small cartons of Crosby's molasses
Dollarama had Imodium type meds and anti gas meds 6 tablets/$2 so I bought some to try...they're made in Manitoba!
They had nice quality thermal socks in ladies colours and men's quite cheap so I did a bit of prepper style Xmas shopping buying 6 pairs
2 1litre bottles of shampoo $1.50 ea
6 cans of Clarks beef vegetable soup @ $1 ea
Got 4 stacking bins that have a low side for reaching into them when they're stacked...going to use them in the fruit cellar to maximize space between the shelves.
Went to Dollar Tree too and restocked the Crosby's pre-sweetened drink mixes to put back into preps as we cycled through them this summer when they hit their BB dates.
4 stacking wire bins/shelves also for the fruit cellar shelves to maximize the space between the shelves.
Have another tray of tomatoes slow roasting in the oven to put in the freezer.
I have 2 lbs of Ontario garlic that some will go into the dehydrator this week end and I may roast some of that to put in the freezer.

a bushel of apples, a bushel of squash, 11 pumpkins from one of my favorite farmers
and I hate to admit it but I have started taking some of mom's stuff home to use - apple peeler, second canner, second blender, wood, etc
Howdy all
This week I have added a home to my preps.
Little back ground. I was one of the kids taken from my family on the reserve and adopted out during the early 60's.
Over the past few years I have gotten to meet and know all of my surviving siblings and extended family.
I have just moved back in to our ancestral home on the reserve.
I finally found a place to call home and put down some roots.
I have also ordered a sea container for my yard shed, preps and crafts
Not a bad week
We live in a society of wolves ,
We can't fight back by creating more sheep
This is the first real week for my phase 1 bugout bag.
MEC Camper 2 Tent
Hard Anodyzed aluminum Dutch Oven
Katadyn Hiker Pro
'Light my fire' firesteel
Ultimate survivor blastmatch fire steel
35 arrows
Can't wait to get out this weekend and put in many hours of archery practice!
Ham radio course starts tomorrow...My instructor is the guy who wrote the ExHaminer program.
Should be interesting!
That's good news for you, muleskinner. Congratulations.
As for me, a bit late for this week, but did so a couple of weeks ago in prep for camping and gear testing:
Purchased:
- more fuel for rotating 3 month fuel reserves;
- a small compound bow with extra arrows;
- some more Coleman's camping Dried food packets (assorted);
- another knife - can never have too many;
- more alcohol (99%) for beer can stove (works great); and
- bear spray and holster, along with an inert bear spray trainer.
Probably more, but can't recall.
I've been so busy testing various gear on my last few weekends camping in BC and Alberta, I'm starting to lose track.
But my gear is always close at hand, as well as reserves and caches.
I'm so looking forward to a week's holidays starting next Wednesday;
heading to the BC Lower Mainland (LMD) to visit Preppersaurus - and others - there
as well as participate again this year in the "Annual LMD BO Weekend" prior to Thanksgiving.

Is what you say worth at least a Canadian nickel now?
Cause two cents ain't worth squat anymore !

Picked up a very, very old wine cork press today at an antique shop. Cheaper than the new ones in the stores and will likely out last them still. Also looking at deals on glass carboys for wine making.
I was kicking myself for not scooping up a wine cork press at the thrift store this week for $20 after I went online and saw them for double that even second hand on craigslist. Our grape production is not sufficient enough for making wine yet , I have ample grapes but they are not ripe even as we head into October despite diligent pruning and a south facing slope . I did get a dozen canning jars and 8 dozen new lids for $10. Processed almost all the organic meat birds for the season so the freezer is full and traded for fish and pasture raised beef . Got 6 more free light sussex/welsummer cross laying hens and a copper maran rooster .
Went back three days later and got that wine corker . I am optimistic that way of a bountiful future if I work my tail off : )
