Toilet paper one of the small comforts of home commercial TP very large rolls the ones in public rest room rolls are huge and fit tight in a 5 gallon bucket that holds 7 rolls tight and leaves room for small items in the TP center hole soaps ect one pail should be enough for one man to last a year as these are more than 6 rolls of regular TP on one roll i did a test over 2 months on one roll not the softest but better than some of the cheaper sand paper no name stuff.
back40 - where did you purchase the TP?
I ordered a Chef's Banquet food Storage Pail from http://www.bridensolutions.ca/ark-emergency-food-supply .
I also purchased a solar motion light from Costco for $32.99. I was standing looking at the lights when an older couple came around the corner and said: Oh good - here they are! It was their third purchase and they LOVED them. The lights are very bright and have a OFF/MOTION/ON setting so they would be great for lighting the house - solar panel outside - light inside. I was thinking of one for over the kitchen sink...I will be buying more.

The TP i get at active supplies locally Stoney Creek not sure if the sell online my workplace had a account with these guys always good products http://www.activesupplies.ca/ .
Gotta love those lights even those cheap garden and walkway solar lights that get tossed out usually its water or dirty panel clean up and your good i took 30 of them apart and mounted those little pannels on a board outside and removed the ground spkike and put socket and bulb in the shack great lighting with 30 bulbs spread out does all lighting and saves the larger pannels for the big load computer.tv. ect.
I added some of those black plastic veggie trays they use in the grocery stores that collapse down flat. Put up 300lbs of potatoes in them with newspaper. Each container takes a 50lb bag and they stack real nice.

Tried my hand at waxing cheese this weekend. Turned out pretty good.
AnitaPeeciousPearl,
What is the name and model of the light you got? Have you tried yours and does it work as advertised?
The price is different but this looks like the same one I bought off the shelf in Costco. http://www.costco.ca/Solar-Motion-Sensored-LED-Security-Light.product.10346698.html
Last night was it's first night on - you need to charge it up in the sun for three days first. I can give you a better idea in a few days. I didn't hang it where I want it yet because I wanted to see how much light it will give off before I have to climb the ladder.

Looking forward to a short review if you could please.
Hmmmm after reading this it feels a little like I've been slacking with only a vintage hand crank meat grinder from the Sally Ann ($4), half priced dried beans and squash to claim. Ah well I guess when I figure out how to make the pay cheque go further I'll do better lol
Be open-minded, but not so open-minded your brains fall out.
1 new prepper family, trustworthy, God fearing, good hearted
1 54L Carboy 2$ at a yard sale
1 spring bear cub split with a friend
1/2 a pig paid for with a days labour with friends in the summer
1 farm fresh turkey traded for with hard red wheat
150lbs of potatoes-- total of 450lbs now. Red, White and Yukon all wrapped in newspaper and stacked in those black plastic veggie crates
60 lbs of beets from the garden
5 spaghetti squash
3 more bushels of tomatoes
*1st freezer full from the garden and local meat
1 used freezer from the sister-in-laws dad
Now to fill those 3 deer tags once it gets just a little bit colder to get the second freezer off to a good start.

Quick question,
Why did you wrap the potatoes individually in newspaper?
thanks

That would've taken a while. I didn't wrap them individually but in single layers. The point is to keep them in the dark so they stay dormant.

Buying tins at the thrift shop to put Christmas gifts in , with the intent to reuse them for storage containers . Picked up new boxes of canning seals at the thrift shop too for about 1/3 the price of retail. Tackling the ongoing battle to organize myself, my tools, my preps... did repairs on all the rabbit feeders and installed them so I could put away tools and feeders lying about in the barn since last summer. Drying bay and mint.
canned 21 litres of turkey soup broth (mom asked for the soup but I doubt she will be eating it)
