DEAL OF THE DAY!!! 😀 😀 yesterday I went to No Frills and bought 3 trays of extra lean ground beef for about $9.50 each.
Today I went back because turkeys are 75 cents a pound and I wanted 2, at the end of the cooler was those same trays of beef... for A DOLLAR A POUND! The last 3 trays were mine, 3.3 pound trays of ex lean ground beef. Yippee!!! Gonna be canning more meatballs and maybe some burger patties into wide mouth jars! Maybe some jerky sticks? The possibilities are endless now lol
There were steaks that were 30% off and stew meat as well. Going to can some stew as well.
Spent $36 and got 10 pounds of ground beef, 2 pounds of steak, 2 pounds of stew meat and 2 turkeys. Not too shabby!I got 4 turkeys in total (went across town to the other store and bought 2 more, they were all under $9), going to make one bird tomorrow during this snow fiasco that is headed our way and then can some broth, freeze some cooked turkey for meals later on too. 🙂
The cheapest turkeys we have seen is 87c per pound...ya we bought a couple at that price and made some ground turkey.
Nice find on the ground beef too. If I found it at 75c per pound, I would be canning more meatballs too!
The bird is in the oven. Will be ready at 3.
Did about 100 meatballs last night (packed into 1 quart jars) and tomorrow it will be turkey broth and maybe some soup starter (broth with carrots, potatoes, onion and celery). I love prepping even more when it is a deal 🙂
Not much this week. An UCO candle lamp in each vehicles with a few spare candles.
Only thing I have done today was write down more recipes and D.I.Y. ideas and put them in my binder for reference.
People forget that is one of the more important things to do.

Oh November 17, how I fear thee...
I added to my preps through Yule shopping. Got my girls and I compasses, got them slingshots and all of us pellets (I already have a slingshot), got my mom a fishing rod, and got myself water purification tablets and waterproof matches. Fun! Planning on buying snowshoes during boxing week and will be getting myself my cross bow and pressure canner soon. 🙂
Ordered one of these.... Wolverine PST154 4-Way Sillcock Key

I'm the lady you're stuck behind in the grocery store with the over loaded cart filled with cases of tuna, peanut butter, huge bags of rice and the weary looking husband
Sorry forgot to add they were packed for life boats to be stored in a box not banged around in a BOB
I have to check mine as they were starting to feel "loose" in their packaging during hunting season. Thanks for this!
The boys got their stuff. They loved the slingshots and I had been saving "lite" ammo (pop bottle lids, small erasers, bouncy balls, tinfoil balls) for them to practice in the house. It was a lot of fun on boxing day shooting at these targets I made out of paper plates and hung them around the front hall way. (No windows! lol) They liked the lights, the keychains, tools, board games (yahtzee, candy land for the youngest, boggle, more legos) and all the survival stuff I got them.
I got more stuff for canning, dehydrating. A new heavy wooden cutting board and a meat mallet that looks like a medieval torture device lol 2 new cast iron pots too.
Got out the leather working tools yesterday
Making a new belt pouch to fit my multi tool, mag lite and fire starting stuff
Looks good but goona add a deer horn toggle tomorrow to close it

Hey Ratdogmom,
Thanks for the tip on the sillcock key. Found one in the junk store today. Would not have had a clue as to it's use/value but for your post.
