Well, it was last week but we got a LEM dehydrator, it was what I wanted for Christmas/Birthday so my Mom and the boys got it for me at TSC. I have now dehydrated and vacpacked marshmallows, pineapple, cranberries (what a pain in the @## that was!), banana, apples and I am working on a potato experiment now. So far it's more like mush but, it is better than it was day 1!

Replaced rechargeable batteries in the solar lights.
Filled 12 - 2L bottles with fresh water.
Tin foil - 25' 6 rolls.
12 pillar candles
100 packs of matches. 12 more lighters.
extra socks and gloves and a few hats, just in case.

It never occurred to me that marshmallows would go bad, what does a bad marshmallow look like? Speaking of things that don't go bad I'm thinking of buying a whole load of McDonald Hamburger patties, I hear they last forever, just leave them out in the Sun no special packaging or dehydrating necessary. I may even try shingling my BOL with them that way I have a ready made food supply that will be safe from only the most desperate people 😆

They dry out, shrink and kind of taste like the lucky charm marshmallows! lol
My friend did this for her son's hot chocolate. He is in hospital a lot and it was just easier for them to have the dehydrated marshmallows in a baggie than having crushed ones and her boy getting angry. (when dealing with special needs kids, things must be a certain way sometimes or they freak out)
It works and the kids love em! We did both the white ones and the pastel coloured ones and they were both decent.
I am really wanting to make some beef jerky in this thing but, no one has had any decent meat sales when I have had $ so, fingers crossed some eye of the round or a sirloin come on sale soon 😉
I have zero complaints about this dehydrator and I hated the round one I had before. The fan went 3 times in it! Melted blades after only a few hours. I was so mad. The LEM is a dream! And it has temp adjustment and a really good timer!

This week I added generations of information to my preps
Through my cousin I met one of the traditional living elders on my reserve
I traded some rifle shells for some bear grease based arthritis cream for my sister
Talking about primitive weapons that I have built really got him to open up about traditional ways of living
I look forward to spending tie in the bush learning about food and medicine gathering with him

I used a compound bow for years with good results. I'm trying out crossbow hunting this season. I'm leaving on the 19th. for a week north. Will post my results.

DEAL OF THE DAY!!! 😀 😀 yesterday I went to No Frills and bought 3 trays of extra lean ground beef for about $9.50 each.
Today I went back because turkeys are 75 cents a pound and I wanted 2, at the end of the cooler was those same trays of beef... for A DOLLAR A POUND! The last 3 trays were mine, 3.3 pound trays of ex lean ground beef. Yippee!!! Gonna be canning more meatballs and maybe some burger patties into wide mouth jars! Maybe some jerky sticks? The possibilities are endless now lol
There were steaks that were 30% off and stew meat as well. Going to can some stew as well.
Spent $36 and got 10 pounds of ground beef, 2 pounds of steak, 2 pounds of stew meat and 2 turkeys. Not too shabby!

I got 4 turkeys in total (went across town to the other store and bought 2 more, they were all under $9), going to make one bird tomorrow during this snow fiasco that is headed our way and then can some broth, freeze some cooked turkey for meals later on too. 🙂
