I hit that No Frills sale too.
5 bottles shampoo
5 bottle conditioner
15 cans of flaked ham
15 cans of flaked chicken
20 cans of tuna
40 pounds of pork roast (half to can, the other half to cut into stew meat, chops and ground for the freezer.. anyday now my friend is going to take his meat grinder back and I will have to buy one lol)
10-4 pound bags of unbleached flour
60 1 litre bottles of water
20 cans of Chunky soup
5 rolls of aluminum foil
30 packs of heirloom/organic seeds.
Plus, the landlord gave us permission to dig up the yard to have a big garden this year. I have it in writing and I am so excited! We will have 5 times the food this summer over last summer at least! 🙂

Not very at all. It is pressed into the can. Nothing like tuna.

** adding that the tuna is watery, the chicken and ham are not. The turkey isn't either but my family does not like it so we don't buy it.

Does anyone have people ask
" what are you doing with all that stuff in your cart ? do you have a big family ? "

I make up stories that come to mind , such as , it is for the church .

Never have questions, but I also try to be subtle, doing a few trips over a week (the grocery store is on my way to work), so if there is a great deal, I might be 6-8 cans and get back another time. I try to avoid buying large amount as sometimes, they will have limits on quantities you can get.

That said, the Church or food bank excuse seems legitimate. After all, you do give some to charity right? 😉

For the longest time I've been meaning to get a pair of modern snowshoes to stick in the car for the winter kit. Sail stores have them on sale now since Boxing Day but selection was still good, $79 down from $140 so I grabbed a pair.

I have pairs of the old style wood and rawhide but they're too nice to leave in the car and they wouldn't like the temp fluctuations or sun exposure.

When we do curry dishes we substitute coconut water for regular water when making the rice. Adds a bit of flavour.

Is this the same thing that was so improperly touted back in 2008?
It didn't happen then, so what is new now?

Section 1.3 of the Guidelines stipulates that they are for use only in those countries that regulate vitamin and mineral supplements as food. As Canada regulates vitamin and mineral supplements as natural health products, the Guidelines are not applicable to the Canadian regulatory system. The manufacture, importation and sale of vitamin and mineral supplements and other natural health products in Canada will not be affected by the Commission's adoption of the Guidelines. Such products will continue to be regulated in Canada by the Natural Health Products Regulations under the Canadian Food and Drugs Act.

I suppose they could simply change the supplements to be regulated as food and bring all of this into effect.

Same thing touted from 2008 ? There are MANY Presidential EXECUTIVE ORDERS signed since 2008 as well.
They are all just waiting for "the word'" to have them enforced. If you can't be bothered researching CODEX
ALIMENTARIUS and coming to your own decisions whether or not to PREP FOR IT ...that is your choice.
Any foreseeable changes by CODEX have been denied by both the Canadian Health Food Association and the Health
Protection Branch of Canada (HPB)....however I personally believe if the SHTF Canada will follow in the footsteps of
the US should BIG PHARMA wish to take control of vitamins and suppliments. I chose to stock up ..."just in case" ...
after all ..." ISN'T THAT WHAT PREPPING IS ALL ABOUT" ?

Actually, I have done research...quite a while ago when this was a popular conspiracy theory.
In addition to the supliment stuff, all nutritious vitamins were supposed to be removed from all food sold...
all food was to be irradiated before being sold...
the list goes on and on and on.
This was all supposed to come into effect Dec.31, 2009.
Here we are 4 years later and nothing of the sort has happened.
Do you really think any government could actually convince the public that these vitamins are bad and need to be eliminated?
As for stocking up, well yes.
Your food storage may be lacking in nutrition, therefore, vitamin supliments are a GREAT idea...but not because some agency is going to make them illegal!
I think this one belongs in the fringe.

Here is some more research...straight from the horses' mouth...
