Hand warmers are only good for about a year. there is a best before date on them and should be followed. They go rock hard after a year. I have put them in boxes and mylar bags to try to get them to last but it did not work. My father in law got me 2 boxes for x-mas and I tried to save some for the next season but they went bad despite my best efforts. So a year shelf life is all you will get from them.
2 shell belts that hold 25 shot gun shels
1000 feet of 550 cord
550x22lr
20x20g 00 buck shot
40x20g phesant loads
20x20g small game loads
100x30-30 core locks
40x12g o buck shot
8lb bag of rice
bag of dehidrated milk
bag of white and brown sugar
20lb bag of flour
roll of wire for snares

I must be honest I shoot alot so the amunition will not last long so i buy alot often. I go through 1100 rounds of 22lr in a weekend at the cottage with my sons.
practice makes perfect. 😈

Mason if you watch princess auto in the summer they get atv bags in for $39 and it has a back rack bag that has one big pocket and 2 side pockets as well as a seat, fender bags and tank bags. I bought 4 sets for my bikes and they are water proof and work really well. I keep all my survival gear in the rear bags and still have room for day to day stuff in the other bags. worth keeping an eye out for!

Princess Auto has all their hand/toe/body warmers on dirt cheap....bought several pkgs of hand warmers (2/pkg) for 77 cents each.
Also bought a couple of hemostats for the first aid/medical kit

just out of interest, whats the shelf like on handwarmers?

I think I'm afraid to answer this question this week - I've been to Lehman's in Ohio (www.lehmans.com) on our vacation and we're going back on our way home.

I am a blessed woman! By the time I'm done shopping I will be set for canning with everything a girl could ever dream of - I also bought a Dimant hand grain mill, and I'm going back for 2 All American canners, a steam canner and a long list of other items. The first trip was a little overwhelming but I took a catalog on vacation with me and have been reading and revising my list ever since. Many of the things I've had on my to-be-purchased list will be purchased and I'll be all set to can my heart out in huge quantities this summer.

The way to this girls heart is through a shopping trip at Lehmans!

The other day we found a cart full of dried beans, discounted, no expiry on the packages at the grocery store. Each package was more than 50% off! YAY! So my trusty side kick and I bought 4 kg each of Northern beans, navy beans and red kidney. Came home, divided them into one cup servings and vacpacked them. We cooked up a small batch of mixed beans the next day and they were really good 🙂 our next goal is to can homemade beans in tomato sauce... see if we like them!
Did the same with 22 kg of jasmine rice (on sale)but, vacpacked it into 2 cup packs, uncooked.
We made 26 containers of liquid laundry soap for our stock and 10 litres of powdered soap for the stock. (and a few for use now of each lol)
We also went to a new deli to get some bacon... it was cheap and really good. Popped a couple of pounds into the freezer 🙂
So a productive week.

Anita & Farmgal, I would love to hear more about your canning!

Big Score!
Went into Winners today....scored 4 bags of hand warmers dated BB August 2015. Each bag has 10 pairs/20 individual handwarmers!
Each bag was marked down to....$2.00 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is going to be the best deal I get in 2012!
This is going to go a long way in food preps and car kits!

Butchered out a litter of rabbits and added lots of wonderful lean, healthy meat to freezer, made and canned rabbit broth and now have a number of new rabbit hides to cure..

Otherwise, bringing in small amount of different things in from the garden and picking black chokeberries to make into juice pretty much daily at this time..

You didnt happen to pick up an Aladdin lamp did you, these things are great for light, pumping out up to 60 watts of light compared to 15 from a regular oil lamp.

Thank goodness for preps! I was away for a week visiting my sister and my 2 grown children at home housesitting were happy to know where the 'extra' food and toilet paper were! LOL.
So now I just have to top up my supplies abit.
I did find a copy of the 'St. John Ambulance Official Wilderness First Aid Guide' and an interesting novel called 'Plague Year' by Jeff Carlson, at a garage sale.
And I ordered 5 more cord of firewood to add to the 12 seasoned cord I already have.......
