Looking for good old water barrels, is there a good place to buy them for a good price here in niagara?

Also may convert one or two to rain barrels

thanks in advance

The best I've found for brand new, decent water barrels (outside kind for collecting rain water) is through the municipalities. They have the best size/dollar deal I've seen yet.

For potable water storage, I'm not sure. I'm still looking. If you keep your eye on Craigslist and sometimes Kijijijiji, then sometimes you find 55 gallon barrels for about $15 a barrel. Usually have to travel for them too.

I like the 20L (5 gallon) camping style round blue containers with the spigots for about $15-20 a piece at C-Tire or places like that. Mine stack pretty easy in the corner and are not so heavy when full that I can't grab two at a time and go up the stairs from my basement to get them out to my truck if I have to.

Hi there, Rainbarrel.ca sells them through non-profit org. "truck sales" and although they currently don't have any listed in our area, there is an ongoing sale in Hamilton. I'm at Niagara College, and I think I'm going to talk the Enviro Corps into holding a "truckload" sale. Each rain barrel includes a filter basket, overflow and interconnectivity outlet, overflow hose, nipple and spigot. They're 50 bucks at their yard, but it says they might be less at truckload sales. I think they're in Hamilton as well. The barrels are 180-220L, but it mentions something about a raintank for $100.

Hmm. I didn't pay near that much for the ones I got.

Make them then. Get some large rubbermaid garbage pails with lids for $40 or less. Cut a whole out of the top of the lids, place some screen over the top of the g-pail and place the lid on top. Strap the lid down over the screen. I did that for a time. Now I use those barrels for watering livestock.
