Last electon Obama was way worse for Canada. He wanted to revamp all our trade deals, tax our exports more, etc. thankfuly he flip flopped on that issue like he did like so many others and it never came to fruition.

Though Republicans have a better rep with our conservative gov't., there economy is hurting and I can see Romneyshelving our friendship to try and gain votes.

but it's not that simple because the congress and the sentate are both filled with Dems, and as a Dem Obama still couldn't get things done.

i was in the US during the 2nd and 3rd debates, my buddies commented on something i said "you're a frakken Canadian and you know when that guy is lying" . . . Obama lied a number of times in the debate, yet many Americans didn't get it, even the moderator backed Obama and was WRONG. . . nice fact checking lady!

still, they get to choose one of two politicians, and no matter what, a POLITIAN will be the president. . . maybe if the job paid more, someone like Steve jobs, or the guy that runs Windows. . . you know a GENIUS (ok maybe just Jobs then lol) would run for the job!?!?!?

It depends totally on your wants for the world and in particular Canadians. In this day and age of globalism they are somewhat the same things.

Obama, although somewhat of a lame duck athe moment, he is the safer of the two bets. All those MSN programs are saying the same thing – outside of the US it is unanimous; the world hopes that Obama is re-elected. Although he has been responsible for Canada entering into the frey in Libya under the guise of NATO alliance instead of going through Congress he is for most part of the understanding that war is not in his favour. He understands that Americans are tired of war, or at least wars being at their expense. He will have to focus on the economy and improving the deteriorating life-style of the Americans and his interest isn’t toward international confrontation, but co-operative international trade and commerce.

Romney is a Republican and it seems you can’t separate the party from their willingness to engage other nations with their military strength to “protect” their financial interests. Romney has already started on the worse path an American president could take at the moment and that is political confrontation with China. It cannot benefit anyone. It can only cripple the American economy and hopes of recovery. Still he claims his first moves in office are to condemn the Chinese intervention in global finances and influence. China owns the majority of American debt, That’s like telling your banker to f off when they can call in every cent you owe tomorrow.

Either way, there is one thing you can be sure of as long as Harper is in power in Canada, he will follow and join in the military lead of his American counterpart and willingly. You can tell by his attacks on Iran and newly-favoured friendship with Israel. He is delusional enough to think he can swing a big stick on his own or at the least he is trying to impress his counterpart thinking he is opening up the way for confrontation by the West. Harper doesn’t need the encouragement from a Republican government – he’d be stupid enough and egotistical enough to sucker right into it and take us with him. For that reason and that reason alone Obama is our best bet.

Rogue has valid points and I do consider them about 90% of my view. Obama is a bag o crap but I consider Romney a Neo-con heap o crap that will only bring more war.

All in all its like asking which foot I would rather lose. Let the illusion of choice commence.

Americans are tired of war? I don't think so. They are tired of entering into long winless conflicts. There culture is entrenched in war and conflict hence there huge military. They are tired of the lond drawn out wars with continued casualties. They love there wars though...especially from there living rooms on CNN and FOX.

Romney is taking a swing at the Chinese because it makes for good politics. He gains those votes from Americans who have wrapped themselves up in the flag and think that antiglobalism, economic isolationism and "buy american" will save there economy. Both candidates do it. He is just as pro China as Obama is, but knows how to play the sound bites....

Harper will follow the military lead of the US? I don't think so. Even if he wanted to, we don't have the capacity to do this. You point out his attacks on Iran, and friendship with Israel. If anything, when the socialists attack him with there propaganda, he doesn't lose his cool and just responds with fact. He's very good at doing it in sound bites also and beating the media at there own game. in that was he totally decimates the socialist lies and propaganda machine intent on there continued take over and looting of Canada.

I heard an interesting fact yesterday. Canadians, and the number is almost the same for Americans....on average the typical citizen will spend 8 minutes a year thinking about politics. 8 minutes....With the average citizen allocating that much time, it's no wonder they all just push catch phrases and slogans and sound bites....when there is only a small portion of the population that take the time to review what each candidate is about...the media doesn't help either, they just publish mostly opinion and editorial now or incomplete concepts and facts....

It looks there are few people that like Obamas believes that government should control our lives, tell us how much we can make, what we eat,if you have made more by working very hard you have to share it with people that were sitting on their ass.I prefer to control my own destiny and thanks GOD instead Husain O.I said before I was raised by system like that.The real capitalist system allowed me to make my dream life come true and put my three boys through university to make theirs dream lives.I was newer asking government for hand out just hard work.Now I do lot of charity and I see who are most of the people that need help.Just move to Cuba they are following same as O.ideas.
