...First one is Syrian literacy rate.. You claim 60 something percent. That a a very vague number. Here are the numbers from your friends at the CIA.
Literacy:
definition: age 15 and over can read and write
total population: 86.4%
male: 91.7%
female: 81% (2015 est.)Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Lie? No, but it doesn't surprize me that being the person you are that you'd suggest such a defamation. The figure I used was from my recollection, in 1981 it was 55.65 %. I'm sure you look-up everything before you post it and not depend on your personal knowledge for anything. In any regard, I was mistaken.
Actually Wayne, I try my best when posting, to ensure my information is up to date and correct. Don't shoot the messenger when you get caught posting things that are incorrect. It took all of thirty seconds online to find your point was not true. So either you knowingly used woefully out of date information because it bolstered your argument. Or you were too lazy to get up to date facts. So which was it? Intellectual dishonesty or intellectual laziness.
I would love to hear your answer to this question Wayne.
Immigration cannot help but increase crime, regardless where the people originate. Quite simply higher population equals increased crime.I believe that an influx of tens of thousands of people who come from a war zone (many with trauma and other physical/mental health issues) put a strain on an already overworked health care system. Moreover I'm aware that security clearances have been abbreviated, which causes me concern.
Perhaps immigration isn't the best choice. Relocating rescue workers (?) from where they're needed is as logical to me as moving Doctors and Nurses out of the hospital and leaving the patients there. As indicated in the aforementioned article, the White Helmets are not rescuers to begin with (many having terrorist affiliations), so I suppose it's logical to move them to Canada... ?
I believe that every nation should support those in need. Building a support structure in the country might be a better way to go than moving people; I don't know. I'm sure most refugees would much prefer to live in their own country than moving to someone else's where they don't speak the language and the culture is different. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like to move my family to Shenyang. I'm not convinced that the current direction is wise. Some refugees want to move back. To me, that says a lot...
You're dancing around the question, please answer in respect to SHTF situations. Forget about the current health care system, crime rate etc. Your qustion was about during SHTF.
Denob,
I'm not dancing around anything. Any escalation of the crime rate can only make matters worse in a SHTF situation. The fact that immigration is allowed without a thorough vetting of those brought into the country, the fact that some of these people have terrorist ties bothers me. Doesn't this bother you? Anything that increases the number of unprepared people into the social environment can't be beneficial to anyone. Do you disagree?
It amazes me that I ask a question and all I seem to receive is hostility. People can or can not not answer the question. They can call the question foolish or choose to simply ignore it. Some however make numerous postings and fail to express their personal opinion. Perhaps criticizing the asker is somehow enough in their minds.
None you improvise, one (or more) is luxury.

I went to your link and wondered why I thought the way I did. I searched for previous data and noticed the huge advances made in recent years. No intellectual dishonesty or laziness. Just an honest mistake based on previous knowledge. You of course can choose to believe what you want. I really don't care what you think.

HopeImReady,
I can understand your perspective, but I see a difference between an immigrant who goes through a proven process and a refugee who's fast tracked for political purposes. Earlier in my career, I've been involved in security clearances and investigating personal backgrounds. The first 10,000 refugees were 'cleared' in less that three months. How is it possible to properly vet that many people in such a short period of time?
The current PM instructed that 250 families that participated in the white helmet program were to be among the first people to be immigrated. Many members of this group were involved in rescuing people from homes damaged by air and artillery fire. Other members have been proven to be actively subversive and aligned with terrorist organizations.
Syria is predominately Muslim, with a literacy rate of 60 something percent. Many suffer from PTSD that requires mental health treatment. They conform to Sharia law, which is a much different system than what we have in Canada. The majority speak Arabic, not English. Many are unskilled.
It would seem that I'm the only one here who sees a difference in displacing 20,000 people from a war zone into our cities without insuring who they are and what their agenda may be. Many can't read, write or speak English and some refuse to learn or be trained to become contributing members of our Society. Call me crazy, but my immediate reaction isn't quickly bring in 20,000 more.
Some people are identified as assholes as a result of their actions. It's too late for the victims. Perhaps I've worked in the dark side for too long...
There are many problems with this part Wayne. First off it was not 250 families. It was approx 50 members plus their families totaling 250 people. This information is actually RIGHT in one of your supporting links. You do read the links you post don't you? Secondly they were not among the first to be immigrated. They came a few years after the first groups. And third, your claims of terrorists among them have been debunked as Russian/Syrian propaganda. Laughably your link supporting this assertion was written by a person on the Russian governments payroll. But hey no one will check right? Still waiting for you to update your post with correct literacy rates.
Regarding screening of the White Helmets folks, Macleans did an article that I think is relevant...
Quote:
What Maclean’s can also report now is that of the 750 volunteers the SCD’s southern offices in Amman had identified as being in desperate need of rescue, at least 80 had their names struck from the SCD’s list in a “pre-screening” exercise undertaken by Israel’s Mossad and Jordan’s General Intelligence Directorate. They were barred on tenuous grounds that certain of their family members were believed to be associated with Syrian terrorist groups. A relation who may or may not have associated with an extremist group—or even an armed pro-democracy one—was enough to get one disqualified."

Quite a few serious factual inaccuracies in this post Wayne. Poor research or.....?
Rather than throwing stones, perhaps you'd like to join the conversation and point-out where I'm mistaken.

Wayne,
Looked a bit deeper into your veteranstoday link. You should be ashamed of yourself, pushing that garbage here. Is that where you get information from? The website is utter crap.

The gatestoneinstitue link, another nasty piece of garbage site. Really Wayne? Starting to understand some of the agendas you are pushing.
I have always clearly understood where Wayne was coming from.

From what I can find, there were only 39 refugees that did not receive sceening before being allowed into the country and another 150 that were only partly screened. ALL 189 have since been screened, so no, it doesn't bother me that much. Keep in mind that these errors were discovered by an internal audit...a way for the government to double check itself, so from this point of view, the system worked.

Could you please provide your source for the claim that any refugees that entered the country had terrorist ties?
As for terrorists entering the country, the appearance of home grown terrorists bothers me more.
A few more reasons this doesn't bother me so much:
1 - I have chosen a region of residence that is uncommon for immigrants to congregate. Was this the intention? No, but it came along with moving out of urban areas.
2 - I maintain situational awareness around me by regularly monitoring emergency frequencies. I know precisely what kinds of crime occur in my area, what areas they occur in, what demographic groups the suspects belong to, and most won't affect me in SHTF.
3 - I am able to monitor and defend my property...enough said about that.
As for unprepared people entering the social environment, with a 2017 population of 36.71 million, I doubt a few thousand more would make a huge difference. Besides, being from war torn regions, some of these people are likely more equiped to handle SHTF than most.

Several people here, myself included, have answered your question. Several have also questioned your judgement in asking such a question. If you don't like the answers, well sorry buttercup, that's not my problem 😕

Perhaps you should reread my statement. It was not inclusive of all responders. Surprisingly, I do understand when a person answers a question and when they simply pass comment.
I have however understood that people are generally not concerned about this. So this concludes my participation on the topic. Thanks to everyone for their courtesy...

Wayne,
You forgot to correct your "honest mistakes". Please do so. Would not anyone to mistakenly defame you. 🙄
Lol. 5 pages of this really. I thought we are adults. Not grade school kids. But I did lmfao over it. Then again I really don't see the point of it. If shtf there is more important things to worry about.

Yes 5 pages. I was going to add to it, I even had a post typed up explaining just how and why Wayne cant get the other positions taken. I would have been defending Wayne in a round about way, but even though I would have just been stating things matter of factly , it probably wouldnt have been taken that way so I hit delete. At least no one put a eye out,Glad you found some humour Term0shad.
