Yeah the grim reality of a real shtf situation certainly takes the romance out of it! I get the impression (and I may be wrong) that a good percentage of preppers are looking forward to the day they can skip off somewhere with their bug out bag, eat a couple of cans of baked beans, look at their gold (cos thats all it will be good for) and skip back to a restored civilisation. Good luck with that!
