Sand picked up from desert regions and blown out to sea is a common phenomenon that occurs in different regions of the Earth. Once aloft the particles can travel thousands of miles depending on the prevailing winds. They can also be blown back towards land again depending on the prevailing winds.
What is unfortunate is that it is quite apparent from the video that the presenter has little more than zero understanding of cloud formations and weather patterns.
