Ok this seems like a good location to ask this question. What are your opinions on the movie Prometheus?
which one?
the newest one, with Charlize Theron? It was ok, not staggering but ok. Some nice scenes, too much CGI some nice thought out scenes and alternate scenarios on mankind, that I liked the most.
Not Ridley Scott's best work. It's funny how some talents peak really early in their careers while others seem to get better and better with the passing of the years. I'm thinking of someone like Martin Scorsese as the later talent, and Scott as the former. It's too bad really; he had great vision in his youth.
Needs must when the devil drives.
ICRCC,
What exactly are we speaking of????? The movie, for the sake of the movie??? Or the engineers of the universe part???
The movie did appeal to me at the movie level, for those who have not been exposed to the Aliens series, this movie may not appeal on the sci-fi / CGI enhancements level. The acting was okay. Not quite as scary/thrilling as others in the Aliens series, but as I was not aware of the movie before watching today on Netflix, in general I was satisfied with the movie watching experience. It even left itself open for a sequel - Hollywood big surprise there.
Now, on the idea of possibilities.........where did we come from??? Were we just another engineered species, placed on an inhabitable planet and left to develop without much interference?? Did we not please our "gods"/creators and thus were about to receive their wraith as punishment??? Were we too much of a threat to our "gods"/creators and had to be setback awhile, again???
I am not sure of the truth of these questions nor the answers. I do recall in the Bible there is a story in Genesis, The Tower of Babel. In which, all of mankind worked together and built and amazing feat of technology and engineering, erecting a tower towards the heavens, so, mankind could be closer to the "gods". The "gods" were unhappy with this. They, the "gods", destroyed the tower and punished all of mankind by scrambling their, human's, tongues - forever interfering with collective communication on planet Earth between strangers. Thus, mankind would have to resolve language issues, first, before being able to collaborate on any great feats to threaten the "gods" again. I do see some parallels.
Would I watch Prometheus again? Yes.
