Speak for yourself Marrii.

The interview in question requires the suspension of disbelief of such supernaturals as demons, angels, a Christian God, and more in order to empower the villainy of the church leadership since the eleventh century to prove the argument above. I personally don't need a belief in the fantastic in order to judge the church wanting. Nor do I give the church a mystic hold over my self determination. The real power of Religion is the ability to get the congregation to give up resources and liberty to further the goals of the Religion's leadership. I don't believe that one has to embrace an alternate supernatural system in order to free oneself from any specific hold a religion has. By simply withholding the resources and liberties which are the lifeblood of the religion, it can do nothing more than be weakened and ultimately wither away. This fellow offers freedom from one supernatural order by offering another. I can't see any freedom there.

Do you have any personal thoughts on this, all I see is a post to utube link, nothing that tells us anything about how this is related to your own thoughts on life or how this applies to prepping?

Um, card carrying Orangeman here...
Sorry, but the Catholic Church (or any other for that matter) does not now, and never will own me.
Not to mention that I'm with Farmgal...how does this relate to prepping and do you have any personal thoughts?
Try to keep in mind that this is a discussion forum, not a place to post a link and run.

The link presents an interesting argument that reminds us that the majority of people can easily have their beliefs usurped greedy, manipulative and malicious people. So in this respect it is relevant to prepping in so much as we should always be cognizant of manipulation, exploitation down mistreatment. The link is a good reminder of some history that most are not aware of.

I could not disagree more with the guest on that podcast.
Here is why...
He speaks of the Magyar...AKA Hungarians.
Having a wife that is Hungarian and parent in laws that grew up and lived in Hungary, I have an inside view into Hungarian history WAAAAAAY BACK!
My FIL, who's name ends in ary (you can research the significance) is descendant of quite reputable nobility in Hungary.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING that this guest makes any sense whatsoever, and this from a person who has a family lineage into what he is describing.
Another example of bullcrap being used to raise funds (by the way, the dot org that the guest had was suspended and he now has a dot com...commercial, for profit!)

Interesting POV Denob. One thing far too many people have never thought of, heard or forget is that 'The winning side in a war writes the history books that are believed.' Just remember that George Bush was after those damn WMD's. Now it's very apparent that the goal of the Iraq war was to find & control something black that hides deep underground.

The rule of thumb I follow is 'If you want to know the truth, follow the money.' The Catholic church (or any church for that matter) is no exception.

Than= I’d rather be rich than poor.
Then= I first became hungry then I ate.
There = She is there now.
Their = They have their things.
They're = They're going to the mall.
To = They came to the house.
Too = That's too bad.

George W is a perfect example of not writing one's own history...he will forever go into the history books as the man who waged war on incorrect information and I suspect there will be many footnotes insinuating that he may have in fact know the allegations of WMD were in fact incorrect. His legacy will always be under a shroud of suspicion, as it should be.
My biggest issue with the interview on the link is that someone has taken something that very few people know anything about and turned it into his own conspiracy. Magyar is a language spoken by a group of people that conquered Slovakia. They came from the region now known as Siberia and settled what is now known as Hungary. Now, the word Magyar has become synonymous with Hungarian nationality, much the same way as the Italian word ITALIANO is in reality a language, but has become the word to use when describing a citizen of Italy. Although Catholicism was introduced to Hungary around 1000 - 1100 AD, there is nothing other than this person's claims that any group infiltrated the church.
Magyar is a language, not a small group of people setting out to infiltrate and control the church!
You say that the winners of a war get to write their own history...but in this case there is no winner, because there was no war.
If there was a war, where is the history book that claims a different outcome that this interviewee claims?
He has simply taken a little known word and made it into something it is not...the same would be true if someone 1000 years from now claimed that a secret society known as the Canadians were responsible for scheming to control the western hemisphere by covertly infiltrating Cuban government in order to take control of nuclear weapons.
PURE RUBBISH!
Now, does anyone here feel that the Catholic Church has any control over them, other than that which you may give them?
Of course not...If you fail to go to mass, do they hunt you down and drag you kicking and screaming?
NO
If you choose not to follow their denomination, do they hunt you down and beat you into submission?
NO
Does anyone here even believe that the Catholic church could in any way, shape, or form, cause an event that could be considered disaseterous?
ANYONE?

Denob... Guess you never went to a Catholic School 🙂
I didn't either but my wife tells me that they were herded from school to the church weekly and if you weren't in attendance at church on Sunday then you were punished Monday at school.
Thank Goodness times ave changed. You are right... the church doesn't come knocking on the door but other religions do :p
