I've noticed that no one, so far, has said a word about what's happening in the middle east right now.
Israel has put up, for a year, with the Hamas fireing rockets and mortars on them. For most of the past year, the Hamas has been telling the world that they just want to live in peace. They say this even as they're launching mortars into Israel. During this time, the Israelis have shown a lot of patience and restraint. Well, the Israeli patience has come to an end and they've decided to go in and kick some ass. Of course, that makes the Israelis the evil warmongers. Now Egypt has even fired a couple of missiles into southern Israel.
Now I may be wrong, but I seem to recall something in the Bible about a big war against Israel. What was that called now, let's see, Arma--Arma--Arma something, short for we're f**ked. I'm not saying that's what's happening but if the conflict expands it could cause plenty of grief here. Thoughts anyone?

I fully agree with your assessment of Hamas and Israel. Israel has shown remarkable restraint over the last year with the rocket bombardment from the Gaza Strip. Not surprising that Israel took out an Iranian sponsored manufacturing plant in Sudan. The longer range rockets that were fired at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem were provided by Iran. Egypt who used to play mediator has sided with Hamas. Hamas is an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood which is now the majority party in Egypt. The whole region is in a state of turmoil and has been for over 18 months.
I don't think it was Egypt that fired the rockets into Israel, that would be an act of war. Their origin was the Gaza strip. If I was about to take out Iran's nuclear facilities I might want to clean up Hamas first for the obvious reasons. It is a terrible thing that there are civilian casualties on both sides. However I have little sympathy for the Palestinians as they allowed Hamas to take control. They allow Hamas to maintain control and Hamas and other groups in the country continue to bombard Israel with rockets. What did they expect!

Israel is on occupy territory, given to them after the war. The women and children of the Gaza Strip are paying for the acts of insane men from both sides. Puck the bible and what its says, fear mongering elitist,in my opinion.

I agree that the modern Israel is on land assigned to them by International Treaty after WW2. The Kingdom of Isreal however has claim to that land going back to the 800's BC. That whole region has been one of ongoing conquest and upheavel. This is just the latest. You are also correct that it is the innocents OF BOTH SIDES who are paying the price for the actions of government and politics. "Live and let live" does not seem to be in the current dogma of either State. In the end we are ALL on "occupied territory". That has been the way since humans existed.

Biblical teachings say there will be a peace treaty that will be signed and after 3 1/2 years peace Armageddon will start. Israel has not had 3 1/2 years peace so Biblically speaking this is not it.

I agree both sides are loons and the people are paying for the governments insanity.

Beth you say the Bible is elitist?

"Elitism is the belief or attitude that some individuals, who form an elite — a select group of people with a certain ancestry, intrinsic quality or worth, higher intellect, wealth, specialized training or experience, or other distinctive attributes "

So as you see the Bible can not be elitist as it invites anyone to read an believe regardless of social standing etc...it is not a club. If someone can say "Puck the Bible" surely I can defend it.

As JAB said, "We're all on occupied territory." But, occupied or not, the Israelis have time and again turned the other cheek, while for months, Hamas has fired mortars and rockets into their territory. I guess the Israelis just ran out of cheeks to turn.
When I was in grade ten I was going to school in Calgary. One of my classmates was constantly poking and prodding at me. I endured it for several months, until one day he butted a cigarette out on the back of my hand. At that point I decided not to turn the other cheek any longer. He never bothered me after that. Five years later I saw him again. He still had the scars where I leaned on his head and dragged his face across the concrete that day. The lesson I learned was that people understand you better when you speak to them in their own language. The language of the Hamas is violence. Israel is just replying to them in their own language. The people of Gaza accepted the Hamas as their leaders even though the Hamas is considered by the international community to be a terrorist organization. When the people of Gaza accepted the Hamas leadership, they should have been prepared for the outcome.

Of course you can defend, I,m sure some of the rules in there are very useful. but considering the pope doesn't have to pay tax, I would say there elite.

(Biblical teachings say there will be a peace treaty that will be signed and after 3 1/2 years peace Armageddon) you would think with all that power they could omit the Armageddon part.

The bible for the most part, the parts that have been re-written over and over and in my opinion are a plagiarism from astrology. I realize there are many on here brought up with the bible as the truth, so be it. To each his own. But don't tell me because "it is written " it has to come true, because that bull shit, just saying. We are all stars.

Yes the Bible has many translations and I think it is becoming a bit like the game of telephone/grapevine.

I'm no expert on war so I do frequently wonder about the consequences over here if it did finally reach the boiling point over there. I would look at WWII for the closest example of what our future at war would look like. I suppose it's all we got to compare.
Do I think this is that big long scary word? Probably not. As far as I can remember those people in the Middle East have been suffering one war or another. I find that the media seems to be making a big deal of it this time for some reason. I recall for the better part of this year Israel has been in some level of conflict but it was not reported in the general media. Much like the big fiscal cliff, the media latches on and creates upset and panic, then the problem recedes into the background for a time once again. I personally don't think there's anything to worry about here. As usual, I hope I'm right.

"Interesting bomb isn't it?" That link above isn't opening, I'm guessing its photo of a bomb?.

War, each one has been planed and made possibly by very powerful people. Who hide behind the words of the bible or other religions. Personal I don't care who was on the land first, you just don't go in and start taking away bit by bit. reminds me of the Crown, pushing into Canada , taking away the first nation lands. Or the Crown again, taking away Scottish farms lands back in the 1800.

Now any one with a brain would know, the media is totally one sided when it come to siding with Israeli.

Israeli IMHO is testing waters of the world for action or reaction also a good time to try out the Iron Sheild, next step is to take out Iran with USA blessing albeit quietly thats why war ships in the gulf..... This way the USA does not need to take out Iran just have Israeli do it and then back em afterwards

I have made it this far in life doing it My Way:cool:..... Wonder where I would be if I had CONFORMED
