G'day, had a Calgary news writer into the store today looking to write an article on who preppers are, and he would like to interview some local to Calgary preppers. If anyone wants to shed some positive light on our world, please PM and I'll put you in touch with the writer. He did say that he can give complete anonymity to the people if they would like. PM me if your interested. Thanks.

Sorry guys, but I have to disagree with you. Its my direction to try to get the word out so that mainstream doesn't think we are crazy. Then there are ten preppers on your street instead of just you. And then when it hits the fan, there aren't ten people at your door trying to steal your food and supplies, there are ten people on your side and you instantly have a team to group with and survive.
I too prefer to keep my preps to myself, when the reporter started asking personal questions about my families preps, I happily steered him away from such questions. There should be no harm though in letting others know that its a good idea to have some food and supplies ready for bad times. Personally, I don't want to be the lone wolf when bad times come. And if there are only six of us in a parking lot, the math is not in our favor.
Once again, still looking for a few willing preppers to share their story. PM me if your interested.

Briden, If I were in the local area I would be glad to give an interview. If they ARE interested in non-Albertans(not sure if that's actually a word) then feel free to pass my info along.
Hello Briden,
You may want to re-direct your reporter buddy to speak with the folks in the local Search & Rescue units - Cochrane SAR, Foothills SAR, Vulcan SAR or even Calgary SAR. The folks who serve with these volunteer ground search and rescue units practice prepping, although, they may not consider themselves "preppers". They do practice what is preached here.
Just food for thought,
Mountainman.

G'day gc, thanks for the idea of chatting with the SAR units, its a good one. I was a member of Cochrane SAR myself for several years, good people.

I spoke to Chris today for about 30 minutes and found him to be very fair in his questions. He asked me to find some locals to help him with his article. For the first time in a long while, I feel that this may be a fair and just interview. Anyone in the Calgary area that would be interested in meeting him can contact me by PM and I will put you in touch with each other. If the interview gets too uncomfortable, you can always refuse to answer questions, or politely end the conversation. My feeling is that he wants to find out what preppers are all about. This may be an opportunity to portray us as we are...regular folks.

Non-Albertans isn't really a word. The proper term is Wannabe-Albertans. 😆 😆 😆

Hey Taz,
That makes it sound like you work in Fort McMurray too. Lots up here. Lol
Nope, I'm an Albertan, only been to Ft. Mac twice, a total of three days.
I'm in Edmonton teaching gun control and doing personal security.

Keep your options open!
