Is anyone else following this "Bath Salts" Drug story thats been spreading? Its International, cases popping up everywhere. People supposidly taking a new drug called "Bath Salts", and turning into deranged individuals often described in an irrational, zombie like state. They inflict massive physical damage to themselves and others. There have been nearly 100 reports of the so called drug related attacks in North America in the last 3 weeks, Most recently in Calgary Alberta.

Calgary police are investigating a possible second incident involving the drug known as "bath salts."
Just before 2 a.m. MT, police received a call from residents in the southeast community of Dover.
Witnesses say they saw a nearly naked young man, between 18 and 25 years old, behaving irrationally and smashing his face into a fence.
When police arrived, the man was sitting on the ground staring at his socks. The officers said he seemed to be in a zombie-like state.
He was bleeding heavily from the damage to his face, and when they tried to help him into an ambulance, he began fighting with the officers.
EMS staff told police they had never dealt with anything like this before.
Duty Insp. Paul Stacey said it took seven officers to subdue the man. Before taking him to hospital, EMS twice used a fast-acting injection that sedates people with excited delirium.
"Officers describe him as having superhuman-type strength, and he appeared to feel no pain at all,” Stacey said. "He is currently in the Peter Lougheed Hospital being treated."
Police are concerned the drug bath salts may have been a factor, Stacey said.
The drug is comparable to a mix of cocaine and amphetamine and is known to cause hallucinations, paranoia and violent behaviour. The key ingredient in the drug is called methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV).
High body temperature
"He did a lot of damage to himself, and we don't often run into these things .… Coincidentally, this is the second one, although we can't confirm anything. Nobody can at this stage. It is in the back of our minds that it is a possibility," Stacey said.
Sources said doctors discovered that the man tried to take his own nose off. Doctors also noted the man had a very high body temperature.
The hospital is running blood tests to try to determine what the man may have ingested.
On Saturday, a 21-year-old man was taken to hospital after his parents called police to their Bridlewood home, saying their son had taken bath salts and was having a "psychotic episode."
Police had to call for backup, and one officer had to be taken to hospital.
For anyone who has ever read Max Brooks' Novel "The Zombie Survival Guide" will know that it all starts with reports of this kind of unaccounted for behavior, probobly passed off as drug related. I tell you what, if this starts popping up in Higher class areas and "upper class" civilians... might be time to head for the hills.

a guy in miami was found eating the face of a homeless man. took 6 rounds to put him down. only the last one in the head did the job. when they did the tox scan all they found was marijuana in his system. in every case that ive read about, bath salts were "suspected"... but never confirmed through blood tox. then, reports about the person cease to exist in the news.
convenient, to say the least.

I'm of the belief it isn't balt salts...did you read about the Mad Cow-like virus that the man in Florida had....I think it is either man-made virus accidentally or purposely released (which makes much more sense than bath salts-especially if you check out Plum Island experiments and how they were moving that facility to the midwest-cattle country) low frequency ELF waves affecting the part of the brain that causes agressive behaviour and delium...or my Christian belief in demons taking over could come into play.(but I do not think it was balt salts...not found in the autopsy of the Florida man)
Or in any of the other "patients". The two main ingredients in the drug are cocain and amphetamine... Both of which stay in the blood long enough to be determined by tox screens.

I'm not sure why any of us would be speculating what it actually was when we only receive second-hand information via the media. It's good to be skeptical about reported information, but remember that the simplest explanation is often the correct one.
