Hey Buggie... SKS is NOT illegal in Canada. Marstar has NEW Chinese milsurp sks. You can get 1440 rounds of ammo plus the sks for $360 plus tax and shipping. You can't beat that price. To respond to your question about a quick load system for revolver they have been around for many years. They are called speedloaders and come in every popular caliber. They also have little puches to carry them in on your belt. Hope that helps
hey just a bear thats the best deal on the sks ive heard of . i wonder which one is better , russian or chinese?
The choice is ultimately yours... BUT.. the Chinese are NEW, never fired military surplus.. anything Russian is a used refurbished model. I went with the Chinese. Remember. As military surplus there is a minimum standard they must be kept towhich is still as good as it needs to be for battle. Tough, durable, accurate enough. Simple to field strip and clean and did I mention durable. TONS of aftermarket accessories too. Just sayin...LOLOL. No ...I don't get a commission... LMAO
@JAB: I checked out Marstar, and I must say those prices are suberb... however I am a little concerned about the low cost. Now dont get me wrong, thats exactley what I want haha, but as a first time buyer I am wary. I know that "you get what you pay for", but I am not very knowledgable in fire arms just yet, and am still learning. I wont be purchasing one for a few months yet, until I get my PAL, as well as more research and range experience to find what sort suits me. How is it that they are able to offer such low prices compared to other retailers? I looked through the handguns and shotguns as well, and the prices are far lower then anything I would expect.
Here is a link for the SKS he was mentioning http://www.marstar.ca/dynamic/category.jsp?catid=7 in case anyone else wants to check it out. The ammunition that you have to buy with it... is that a common ammo type? or this this a "you have to buy from us only" sort of thing. I am concerned about salvaging ammunition after SHTF, and would prefer something that I may have a chance of running across in the field. Also, does ammunition have a shelf life? the description says that it was all pressed in the late 1960's... does that affect the quality or the safety of the round?
Also, if anyone has any experience with the brands being sold on this website, I would appretiate input. Id love to buy cheap, but I also dont want something that will fall apart during shipping!
See you all after.
The ammunition is Com Bloc military surplus. It is readily available from many sources in Canada. It uses what is called a corrosive primer which means you have to clean your rifle well after you fire it so you get the salts out of it. The upside to corrosive primers is that they have a longer shelf life than non corrosive. It is a simple process to clean the rifle and it is something that should be done after shooting anyway regardless of primer type. I bought my SKS from them and love it. Well made, forged receiver, good fit and finish. Never had a jam or stoppage and have fired over 1000 rds through it to date. To say it again.. They are military surplus.. so built to a military standard... all steel and wood.. no plastic. NOT Matell...LOL
it sounds great to me then! I researched the round as well, and seems common enough. But if I buy the box through them I dont think ill need to resupply for awhile anyways! I will definatley check it out. For the price they are asking, i would be almost crazy not to try it.
Is that a carbine that would be common to find for use at a gun club firing range? I wouldnt mind trying one out.
See you all after.
A lot of people have this rifle. I can't know what people will have at a range on any given day. That said you can talk to your local gun dealer and see if they know anyone who has one and may be interested in introducing you to it... just a thought.
canadaammo has some great deals from time to time . Right now they have these Norinco M305 in stock. Very inexpensive. Sign up for their newsletter. I purchased a grizzley shotgun and a glock through them - all mail order! Kind of weird getting a handgun mailed to your door!

I would agree with you to an extent.... but... given that all militaries on earth gave up slings and arrows 100's of years ago... I'll stick with my gun. Also... to do as you describe means going out and stalking the "enemy". As for your metaphore... yes I can hit the sparrow with my shotgun. Reloading takes seconds especially if you have magazine fed weapons. Even those with fixed magazines you can employ the concept of tactical reloading. You top up your magazine any time there is a lull. I'll have you count my shots and wait for you to come and get me...
I am NOT advocating aggression.. far from it.. DEFENCE!!!! But once the decision has been made and battle joined... PLEASE come after me with a sling and arrows.
Amen JAB.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
I suppose it all depends on what your practical scenario is. as a lone wolf survivor, or even in a very small group, perhaps quiet and stealth is the key. But for those of us who plan on defending land, stores, and other in some sort of static location... well I dont think slingshots would do the trick against even one determined person with some skill at long range fire. we might as well be loaded up with snowballs.
Again, its all about your expected situation, but I must agree that there is no reason not to train with any weapon types you may need to use. I plan to train with Firearms and bladed weapons, and perhaps the bow, because I feel that with these weapon selections I will be as effective as I can be without proffessional tactical training at defending me and mine when SHTF.
although interesting enough... a slingshot may be a valid option, especially for those with Bugout bags. also they can be kept in vehicles if im not mistaken, so if you happen to get stuck away from where you need to be, at least you dont have to throw snowballs to defend yourself on your trek to safety 🙂
(edit: then again... most guns can be silenced)
See you all after.
I had shooting practice the other day with a Ruger 10/22, with the magazine clip (25)...these are on back order in the millions for the USA and if you can find one here pick it up! Reading all these posts it sounds like everyone is all weaponed up and good to go...so question is, would/could you really take someone out if they came on your property or broke into your home, would there only be "certain circumstances" such as NO LAW LEFT that you would do that in, and what would you do with them afterwards? I would like to just shoot beside them and they would get the picture and leave...what are the chances of that happening?@#
I'll stick with my Mossberg 500 and AR-15 Assault Rifle ALL DAY!!!! I don't care and everyone has their own preferences but I guess we'll see who stays alive and who doesn't when SHTF...unfortunately that's the reality.
And I agree with that comment that it's not about aggression its all about DEFENCE!!! I would never go out looking to hurt someone it all comes down to defending my family, PERIOD.
