This website has the lds (mormon) food calculator. Simple type in the amount of people in your family and the calculator will tell you how much basic foods you will need for your year's supply. These are only recommendations. You will need to determine what you should store for your family.

Simply click on the link below...

Enjoy! 🙂

Thank you for the link... Only one thing is weird. It says for 2 people that I will only need 28 gallons of water? Seems a little low to me

See you all after.

One question on food storage does everyone only prepare for there family or does anyone prepare for extra people at all like strangers that might need help

Preparedness is like a condom , I've rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it

I hope to gather enough to share and trade. And also this does not take into account what you may be able to grow, gather or hunt.

I prep extra food. I am about to buy a Berkey water filter but I don't really need a huge one, but what if one day there are lots more people living here? So, do I buy one that fits my known needs or one that will cover the unknown? I am leaning towards 2 ave. Berkeys. One can be put in storage for just in case. I have always liked redundancy as well.

We prepare for ourselves first, then for others...we have six kids and spouses and six grandkids so I'm sure they'll comma knockin' when the time comes...After the one year's supply for yourselves and those in your home, then I would just continue to store and store and don't think about how much and for whom...so long as you have the room and the budget, then why not...and you can always find room...

With reference to the question about the water quantity.

"It is impractical for most families to store a year's supply of water. However, at least 14 gallons per person are suggested as a two-week emergency reserve"

I agree with the water, so at least two ways of cleaning water is recommended.
