The info on this link may be one sided.Consider the source.

The following was an attempt to get the info from the government.

Personally I would take the hassle any day over an 8 fold increase in gun crime.

Except that the hassles have little to no affect on crime. The hassles are only meant to discourage the law abiding
from wanting to own firearms.

I quite agree the criminal element has always and will always have access to firearms and they care little for the law. However by gun crime I meant homicides and of which many are domestic. Sorry I cannot find the relative statistics , the RCMP only uses very old data. Also by mandating at least some training as well as a relatively in depth background check law abiding Canadians are not getting guns for the wrong reasons. If this discourages some they probably did not really want one anyway. Firearms should always be treated with the utmost respect. If our laws instill some respect they are worthwhile. The Doomsday Prepper that shot the end of his finger off in the show might still have all ten digits if he had gone through the Canadian system.

OR... you could say, "You can't fix stupid." I didn't see that Doomsday Prepper shoot his finger off but can say that with VERY FEW exceptions firearm 'accidents' are due to a lack of respect for the firearm. I would dare say the 9 digit person in question fancied himself a modern John Wayne of sorts. What was his finger doing inside the trigger guard before he acquired his target? Golly gee whiz, why do they call it a trigger guard? 🙄

UPDATE: All long gun registry data has been destroyed (except for Quebec) and the UN crap has been put off for another year.
