I feel it's beginning to slow. The oil companies are tightening their belts. I work for an oilfield servicing company and we are starting to notice a slow down which in turn affects quite a few other industries

It is odd. Today's job reports suggested that AB led the way in January with 14,000 new jobs (half of the cdn total I think) yet all we're hearing about is large scale lay-offs and cutbacks on discretionary spending.

I'm not sure where the truth lies but I work for a training company and we are definitely seeing slowdowns in registrations and subsequent class cancellations. Some industries such as seismic and drilling will get hit harder while things like pipeline and servicing of existing fields/batteries/refineries will have to continue.

It is also apparently a "Buyers Market" in housing as they aren't selling and new inventory is being introduced at a faster pace than normal. That according to a cbc interview earlier this week.
