Iceland and mega volcano's. Had no idea how dire this was. Check the video out. Looks like its a very legitimate thing to plan for. Most of Europe is in the hurt locker but we would have fallout as well. Enough to hurt. Check it out

One aspect of "knowledge is power" is budgeting. Budgeting for prepping is a concern for many, myself included. I'm lucky to have about $100 left over every 2 weeks for anything like clothing or fun, etc due mostly in part to being a single dad in a city where rent is plain stupid. Ah well, it is what it is and because of that... budgeting for prepping is important. Here is a link I came across on the subject. Hope you take something from it.

Thanks ScottyRe it is a good down to earth site with lots of useful information. Well worth the time to browse through it.
Since we are on the topic of China and Knowledge is Power... It is complicated to go into great detail, but we should not worry about China going to war with USA, a world war... more likely. My side career is foreign exchange. Once you tap into the global knowledge of currency you start to see who is dependent to whom. China would crash if the USA ever crashed. Long story short and made very basic, when a chinese company builds a "toy" they must do two things, ship it to america for sale and pay their employee. So... firstly, they ship to America where it is sold for 10 US dollars. They cannot pay their employee with 10 US dollars so it must be converted, however; the conversion can only take place when someone with Chinese dollars wants to exchange for the 10 US dollars (say they are traveling to states from china as example, etc). The problem is that the US is not producing items that sell in China, which would balance the conversion rate of the currencies. What this does is leave china with a HUGE lump sum of American dollars that need to be converted to Chinese to pay their employees and whatever else they need to do with Chinese currency. To solve this issue, the Government of China buys the American dollars and simply prints more Chinese dollars to trade with the Chinese companies that were holding the US dollars. The next situation is the Chinese Govnt is stuck with all these American dollars that they can not put back into their economy (because everyone there uses the chinese dollars). So, they buy treasury bonds from America with their US money. However, when you break this equation down into great detail, you realize that our debt is their debt, and they are basically a suckling on the American economy. Further research and detail shows that the majority of not only American debt, but world debt (including china's with the treasury bonds), is owed to the Federal Reserve which is a private company that, for some reason, we all pay taxes towards since the 1930's. And every president (Kennedy for example) that tries to end the social security tax that goes to this private company (the only tax in USA history to go to a company and not the government), seems to get a bullet to the head. So, hopefully this information will inspire someone to do self-study and see the world debt for what it is. An age-old banking scheme orchestrated by the federal reserve.
Second note, united states consists of 40% of the worlds military budget. That is not just for local military, but the actual military market. The largest market in the US Economy is weapons and military technology, second is medical. China only takes up 10% of the worlds military budget with Russia at third with 5%. Both of them combined dont even equal half the influence of USA, let alone the allies. These numbers are not meant to say that war would not happen, actually they are meant to show how war WOULD happen. The USA makes money off of war... lots of money. Ford and GM both sold tanks to hitler (The axis) and the allies by converting their factories to tank factories, IBM was a provider of technology to the Nazi's. That is the real reason it took so long for the USA to enter world war II, they were too busy making money off of the bloodshed.
1 United States 682.0 billion per year
2 China 166.0 billion per year
3 Russia 90.7 billion per year
Sorry for my rant, it is a topic that I am very passionate about considering my currency trading and being a history buff.
A good rant. Even more interesting is to look at the families behind the Federal Reserve.

The quote above is music to my ears 🙂 knowledge is power
I would hope that most if not all of us have researched that topic and have an understanding of this...The bullet to the head also counts for Suddam Hussein & Goddafi trying to buck that system and go with gold.
Reigniting the Knowledge is power thread here... Do any of you have links to docs on how to survive? I'm thinking a gathering of all kinds of information be it tips and tricks, digital books and more would be a handy thing to amass so that we can collectively save them to a usb/storage device for potential future use in the event of something terrible. We can't all have a library of books nor can we carry them with us if we need to relocate or if we are caught out of town when things go south but if we were to carry a storage device with all the necessary survival knowledge with us... well then... thats just one more ace up the sleeve we can all have. Downside is sure... this is redundant if an EMP goes off but hey... .preparing is for anything and everything right? Play the odds. make this one more thing to add to your survival arsenal.
Okay... fire away folks. Share your links if you have them.
If you have pdf's and would like to share... I can always set up a shared dropbox for doing this.

Well I have to say that the good book holds lots of needed knowledge. I keep a few around. I suggest getting maybe issue 5, 6 or 7, then one around issue 16, 17 or 18, then a later edition of your choice. It wont take up a lot of room.
I stopped at 18 or so as some "electrical" starts coming in then, and I think that should be off by itself. I guess I am a heritic.
Anyway, The Machinery Handbook, easily 1/3 of all the knowledge you will need in this "good book" all verifiable, no faith needed.
its a thick book
A few pics of the inside..
