You should see some of the stores here water almost sold out it's too funny
Preparedness is like a condom , I've rather have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it
Lol, I had to pick up some milk @ Safeway after work today, and I had to take a picture of the water shelf... not 1 little bit left!! And Antsy, I did think of that..the 2 lines underground, but I still think the overall long term cost would actually save money. Now retro-fiting is a different thing, but @ the rate this place is growing, I think it would be worth it. And Duff, give it a week, maybe 2 and your going to be shocked and appalled at what comes out of all this. I think it is in everyone's best interest, no matter where u live, to be critical and actually use their 'free thinking' mind to make COMPLETELY informed decisions about how to conduct your household, business, etc.
Live, laugh, love and learn!
Yeah as my friend says that's why we prepare we have enlighten water for about a month so I'm not worried just funny watching every freak out when there's no water on the shelves

we have water storage & I still fill empty juice jugs with tap water as soon as we have emptied & cleaned them and add it to our storage, the water is treated & good for 5 years

I just had a flash back from the movie "Contact" - The quote that I'm thinking of is something like, "you can always count on the Japanese; why build one when you can build two for twice the price?" Remember, this is only the second time in twenty years that Lethbridge's water treatment system could not handle the load. It is that kind of metric that influences the decision makers when considering whether a redundant system is really going to be worth the capital expenditure. As a contractor, I personally love the idea of redundant civil works. As a tax payer.... not so much. Fortunately, as you say, within a number of days the system will be back on line. In much of the world potable water from a tap is unheard of. Does that mean the sh1t hit the fan and they just never recovered? Or are we just spoiled, entitled prats with little perspective?
Needs must when the devil drives.
On the news report when I first made this post the car washes were told to shut down or the water to their business would be turned off...sad that people were lining up to wash their vehicles...wrong priorities as usual...after the flooding and water issues last year it seems people still did not bother to store water and supplies.
But it would look bad if you were dying of thirst and your ride wasn't shiny, right? 😆
My neighbor could have used a lack of water. Spent the last 4 days helping her minimize flooding in her basement. In total I'm betting we pumped ove4r 3000 gallons of snow melt away from her house and about 300 gallons out of her basement.
On the messed up thinking side of things, about a year ago a car wash in the states installed a huge reservoir (15,000 gallon?) underground to collect and store rain water for use in the car wash. The state found out about it and the officials ordered it to be removed. 🙄
Good luck Lethbridge preppers and enjoy your reserves.!
Than= I’d rather be rich than poor.
Then= I first became hungry then I ate.
There = She is there now.
Their = They have their things.
They're = They're going to the mall.
To = They came to the house.
Too = That's too bad.

I didn't really mean it because of the super rare times that they advise us to boil water...I mean that the cost of treating the water that is used for purposes that don't need to be potable (toilets, car washes, fire hydrants, outdoor water systems, park sprinklers, ....the list is far more extensive than I can put here), and the cost of treating all wastewater (which not all of it needs to be treated) before they pump it back into The river has got to be cheaper in the long run, no? Maybe I'm out to lunch, but I'm pretty sure I don't need to have treated water to flush my toilet or water my grass...
And BTR, that is definitely messed up my friend!!! Lol, the gov't (municipal, provincial, federal) needs to make sure they get their cut!

I don't disagree with the idea that much of the water we consume doesn't need the full treatment that cities provide. My truck doesn't need regular doses of fluoride for example, and neither does the lawn. There are, in fact, two separate waste water systems in place - storm water and sewer. So the cities have addressed that concern; although the citizens are guilty of pouring all manner of waste into the storm system which pollutes the river for both its ecosystem and subsequent users down stream. Ultimately though, if it were more cost efficient to run two systems; one with potable water and the other with water only filtered for particles which would mess with the pipes, I'm certain it would have been done. I wouldn't trust the average citizen to distinguish between the two if it were in place and would have to figure the health care costs into the algorithm as well.

Band lifted at 1 today to funny everyone ran to the car washers lol
