Was hauling metal to the scrap yard, so I snapped a few pics.
A roll of 4 foot wide aluminium,1/16 thick....emp proof your entire house!
Stainless steel, I had already bought some of these...20.00 dollars each, use for a still or batch water distiller project
Cannon anyone? now if you knew someone with a lathe, or milling machine you could interrupt the threads, and make a fast firing breach loading cannon, in stainless steel no less
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
these are new alumimium pipes over 20 feet long, maybe 3.5-4 inch diameter...sells for 1 dollar a foot
Likely nothing wrong with it, I just couldn't get it in the basement or it would be coming home with me
Hmmm...maybe make a human size hamster wheel, must be 14 feet high
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.
Hmmm...the aluminum roll has a ton of uses!
And the pipe too at a buck foot!
Kegs make great stills and can be used to make gasifiers too!
So much stuff, all useful, at great prices.
An aspiring blacksmiths dream!
Yep, prices are great in fact steel has fallen to the floor, in talking with the guys its the slowest they have seen in 20+ years, 2,3 years ago they were shipping out steel to china and korea as fast as they could, now nothing......no demand, the only metal that's still relatively expensive is stainless.... Last fall I was buying 2.5 inch to 3 inch diameter pipe ( used) 1/8 to 1/4 inch wall cheaper than I could buy pressure treated wood fence posts...In fact I wound up cutting a bunch into fence post lengths and reselling it out in the country to farmers for a little more than they would pay for pressure treated posts, pocketed some easy coin....and steel fence posts are so much easier to pound in.
The winter tires I just put on the truck were from the scrap metal yard, picked them up last winter off a smashed up truck, they were so new they had the stringy rubber thread things still on them , 75.00 bucks a tire and rim they charged me ( had to pull them off the truck myself though), same model of truck I drive, looked up the tires, and they were over 200.00 a tire retail.
If the wwrol ever happens Ill secure the nearest scrap yard and value village and be king of the world...
Look aluminium fuel tanks off rigs, some old, some almost new, some with pin holes, lots without (easy to test) great for solar heated batch hot water systems, fuel tanks, cut in half for raised gardens. Likely 50... bucks cash (for good to perfect ones)
want a windmill tower? here is a 40 foot lattice one...Could be made for tip up operation...I am guessing 200 to 250 takes it ( in my experience) You could not even pay some one to weld up such a structure for that amount but its 8-10 times what they would make selling the raw steel by weight to China right now.
Scrap yard= Cosco for hard times (or for me, anytime)
Give a man a gun, and he can rob a bank. Give a man a bank, and he can rob the world.

The "China?" theme continues. That was a valuable piece of news you just shared. The steel market part. News on the ground.
I have a Tactical Harness and I have a Tool Belt. The Tool Belt is more Useful.
