I continually monitor several sites for solar flares. On July 2 a solar flare erupted but is only considered an M class. However a few of the sites that I get my information from are now down for "technical reasons" could the sh*t already be hitting the fan?

Probably not. There was a M6 flare yesterday and a 10% chance of a X-class in the next 24 hours.

The same here, check first thing in the morning. When there is a X class flare, and a storm together, thats when I get nervous. More so if it a southern polarity charged storm, most chance of a bad outcome.

There are a few sites I check regularly and I also receive email alerts. One site in particular has images of the sun. Often times, I can see huge flares & cme's going in every direction and I can't help but think...
It's only a matter of time before the sun hacks a huge loogie directly at us...if not in this cycle, then perhaps the next.

Is there any connection to the "Severe thunder storm warning" going on in Southern Alberta right now and the solar flares? I am in Lethbridge and winds are starting to pick up to 100km/hr and it is still sunny outside but very odd.

Probably not. However the maximum of the 11 year solar cycle (sun spots) does correlate to very energentic hurricain seasons. It is not well understood.

Most likely it has to due with the climatic shift that were in the middle of, well sort of. Were in the 4 year of 10, 10 years is what the climatologist said it would take for the climate to shift northward 200 miles. Every year the weather will be more and more erratic. The 7th year is suppose to be the climax of this change, and then it settles into a normal state. Mother natures climax, sounds about right.

Now there is a 25% chance of an X-type flare in the next 48 hours.

What was the name of that song, "Stormy weather?"

Just to add a note there is a 25% chance of a X-type flare and an 80% chance of M-type flares. This is due to one of the largest sunspots in years named AR1520. It is now beginning to point towards the Earth. It is so big it is just about visible to the naked eye IF YOU USE APPROPRIATE SAFETY EQUIPMENT. Don't ever look directly at the Sun through a telescope or in any other way, unless you have the proper filters! You can permanently loose your sight in less than a second.

A X-class flare has erupted from the sun. I am still gathering info but here is a link for one of the sites I monitor. http://www.tesis.lebedev.ru/en/sun_flares.html
