Curious... Do the areas where this is happening also have frakking on the go?
Do you buy this?

Being extremely right brain dominant, this is REALLY out there for me...i believe this is what i actually got from that: http://youtu.be/ss2hULhXf04 😉
(half kidding!) but his final statement,
"...There is no doubt that processes in the core rule the internal energy of our planet, therefore, we should expect by the end of 2012 a sharp rise in strong earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and extreme weather events with peak levels in 2013 - 2014."
is definitely something i have heard from many different sources...ones i find credible.

whatever it is, I'm creeped out just hearing it on video...I can't even imagine what it sounds like in real life.
Deleau, you won't even give us a FEW ideas on what you're thinking they are? Hmm??? Inquiring minds need to know...
Frankly, mamabear, at the beginning of this year, i thought the definition of a prepper was Martha Stewart ...always having the necessary ingredients on hand to throw together a great appetizer if company drops by at a moment's notice...sad, i know....but it was THESE SOUNDS that completely freaked me out, and got me started down this rabbit hole of conspiracies, theories, facts, and delusions....in fact, a good case of bronchitis and 2 weeks home from work, and i was glued to the internet, learning as much as could...i think i fell asleep most nights in the wee hours, at my computer...believe me, i've made up for lost time in a very short period.
It was a guy at work who came in and started talking about these sounds...the men that recorded the Conklin sounds do not strike me as the type driven to anything fantastical... and the fact that these sounds were recorded world wide, at almost the exact same time, (2nd week of January, 2012) is wayyy too coincidental to me. my opinion. period. I heard what i heard, and i only posted this to see if anyone else had heard anything....
As for any theories that i am aware of, they are not for the faint of heart, so i honestly don't think i am going to open up that can of worms...i have seen how some of the threads have gone here, and i am SO0ooo not prepared to start something like that... I have tried to tell family and people i work with some of the things i have heard, and i have quickly learnt it is better not to go there... 😮
... i will have to think about this for a while...As far as i'm aware, nobody knows what these sounds are...
They were barely discernible last night...i still hear it, but let's just say they're gone now... and we can all sleep well and forget anything happened...
...it's all speculation, anyway...hahahahaha...that seems to give people comfort. 😀

I'm a new member to the forums but I've been following some of this phenomena with a keen interest for quite some time now. I'd invite you to check out the following link video which is a compilation of strange noises heard all over the world from Alberta to the Czech Republic. There is a distinct similarity in all of these sounds despite the sources apparently originating from different parts of the world:
Draymen
On my phone so I can't post the link. Look up "Bloop" in wilki. I watched a bit of "Weird or What" the other day and it had something on a strange sound that the US government ocean people heard in 1997. There is a link on the page for other strange sounds
My mom thinks is sounds "old"
Hey Deleau,
Having heard it (tonight low and coming from the north) I for one would like to hear your theories. That Conklin video is exactly what I heard over the weekend. AND... I work in the world of Forestry. So I didn't recognize the crew but certainly can sympathize with the cold, isolation and oppression of the dark looming forest.
Hey Deleau,

Hey bit, yeah it is definitely coming from the North tonight...i'm pretty bummed it's back so strong...it had really seemed to have abated...it's pretty much constant, which is a new development....we're talking at least five straight days now, going by your certainty of hearing this since Thursday...
My dad lives in Swan Hills, and i have a pretty scary memory of getting lost in the forest up there...(my brothers' idea of fun... 😥 ) i can't imagine the isolation of working in them...
I am really undecided as to whether i should post some stuff in here...it's just the kind of stuff that creates hostility and defensiveness, because most people just can't handle this sh*t. It's pretty scary. I would definitely be setting myself up to be tarred and feathered...What i have learned has been through a very gradual process, and it's nothing anybody can't find by just doing searches on line...There are several ways you can look at this... I have spent my whole life in the arts, so i am a very creative person and have a very strong imagination, and tend to be open to the more esoteric things of the world.... I also have a rock solid Christian faith, and my leanings tend to go along these lines. I just don't know how to sum up hundreds of hours of sifting through videos, radio interviews, and articles.... well i do, kind of, but it seems preppers are a practical bunch... I, personally, think there's a lot more to these sounds than a scientific explanation, yet i think that is generally what most of you are looking for...on that note, i will bow down from monopolizing this conversation...
...trying to understand things that are inexplicable, or frightening, takes faith, and again, the bottom line for me is my belief in the bible and it's prophecies...at the end of it all, there is a battle for our souls. good against evil. the oldest story on earth. And it takes a very open mind, not to mention heart, to accept things that aren't black and white...sheesh....this is not going well, is it? 😆

Havent watched it yet. I personally think it is man made and not a cosmic mystery.

why dont one of you who can hear it record it and upload it so the rest of us can hear
See you all after.
The noise appears to be occurring only in the northern hemisphere.......why?
Russell Coight....outback legend
This is turning out to be an interesting thread. I watched the debunking video. I am would not be surprised if half the postings on YouTube were hoaxes. However the fact that this made it to national news is amazing.
People from around the world are reporting hearing strange noises. Some of these may turn out to have a simple cause, some will be hoaxes but what about the rest? There are so many.
The noise appears to be occurring only in the northern hemisphere.......why?
I think that it is quite possibly a simple answer to this most of the landmass on the planet is concentrated in the northern hemisphere.
This reminds me in many ways of the Taos Hum. Taos is a town in New Mexico in which many residents reported hearing a hum. It was very well investigated. It turned out that some people because of their hearing sensitivity could simply not hear it. Others did not hear it although capable of hearing it. Of those that could hear it there were two groups. Those that had no problem hearing it and those that heard it and just tuned it out as background noise and were not aware of it. The brain is an amazing thing and is capable of concentrating only on those things that it thinks may be important. The interesting thing is once they were made aware of the hum they could not "stop" hearing it. Once you are aware of an annoying noise it is very difficult to dismiss it. I think the same principal may apply to these current noises too.
After an exhaustive investigation it turned out a little over 2% of the general population could hear it. No definitive cause has ever been found. As the noise could be heard equally well in the basements of houses and in cars it was suggested that the hum, in to 30Hz to 80Hz range, could be caused by ambient electromagnetic fields. Other noises heard around the world have been attributed to such diverse causes as cooling towers, air compressors, waves crashing against the ocean floor and even the military. (Here we go with HAARP again!) However most still remain a mystery.
As for this noise, although a YouTube video may be a hoax, we know that members of this forum have and are hearing it. That is significant and cannot be dismissed. Thank you again Deleau for bring this to everyone's attention. There was bound to be a range of reactions but I think most of us are really interested in this subject.
It is interesting thats for sure. Sure plays into the whole 2012 mentality though. What better time to do something like this (if indeed it is man made). Either way it is drama for the day and makes life a little more interesting.
Did anyone else hear "the noise" in Millwoods, Edmonton last night? It was loudest around 2:30 p.m After hearing it again last night, I realized that I heard it one night several weeks ago but it had a strangely lulling quality to it and I was aware of it and because it just continued to play its' tones I then drifted back off to sleep. It almost sounded like wind playing against power lines but in a whole range of tones and there was no wind. We haven't heard the boom sounds for a little over a week now.
"It's better to look ahead and prepare than to look back and regret"
Alright, so maybe reading through this thread has my mind working overtime, but here's what I've got.
Just a few minutes age, I heard a boom...very low kind of like a dump truck in the distance, but there is no work going on near here.
Then it hit me...I've heard it before too...sometimes several in a row, but usually just one or two.
Then I was talking to my wife on her lunch break from work about 30 minutes from here.
I mentioned the noise and she claimed to have heard it also. Then she mentioned a humming sound that she sometimes hears outside her work.
I quickly found an online video of the sounds and played it for her...guess what...a match!
I told her that it has been explained as the trumpets of the apocolipse, and I think that all my booze will be poured down the sink tonight when she gets home.
So, in fact, we are hearing different strange noises here in Quebec also.
Kinda makes ya go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Still havnt distinguished anything in calgary, but then again its very easy to attribute any noise you hear to construction. There is a saying in calgary. "We have 2 seasons here. Winter, and construction"
See you all after.
