Tonights feast:
22lb of homegrown Alberta prime 7 rib roast - nothing done to it. People who tamper with such perfection are either morons or insulting God. I've seen this tragedy too often. Attempting to enhance this is like pouring water into a fine single malt. Ruins it. Medium heat in a Big Green Egg indirectly with fired lump coal for 3 hours, let stand for 20 minutes and carve.
For sides...
A few lbs of Fried Calamari. For you barbarians, I'm not talking about that worthless restaurant calamari which I would only use as bait to catch real seafood. I'm talking calamari where 2 cuts is equal to the mass of an entire large calamari dish the uncivilized are accustomed to.
And a Greek salad. Genuine of course. Loaded with Kalamata olives. Oh, and Manouri cheese.
The above enjoyed with Crown Royal. I know, it's not a fancy single malt, but still a great spirit you must admit. And the purple pouch bags are simply useful for storing silver coins safe.
You know, about a decade ago the straw that broke the camel's back as far as me rejecting television completely is when I witnessed a great tragedy. It was the Iron Chef program on Food Network. Now, the Japanese love everything that comes from the sea, but sometimes they really screw up the preparation. They took two gorgeous red snappers, and destroyed them by 1. boiling it in some nasty as piss broth that would instantly trigger the vomit/gag reflex 2. using the remainder to create an ice cream. Heathens! That's the same kind of criminal abuse as taking a great cut of Kobe beef and burning it extra well-done til it has a leather consistency then serving it slathered in sour cream.
Let's see what you folks are putting on the grill.....

wel... i know my vote for who should bring snack s to the next meeting
See you all after.
Okay NOW I'm really hungry!! Stop that!! lol
It all looks delish!
Hey Denob, maybe next time you can BBQ at the E. Ontario preppers meet!!
A BBQ is a must for prepping. "I don't know what it was, but fire made it good!" Or words to that effect. This is the correct Forum to be running a BBQ thread.
Tonight after getting home from "laser tag", we fired up the grill and had BBQ chicken breasts and a pot of homemade navy beans. Awesome!!
I think this thread will grow legs and run across all pages and all provinces.
Bon Appetit,
Mountainman.
Cry Baby, did you eat the whole thing? If not then that is sacrilegious.
darn, now you guys are making me hungry.
Wish I had known we were starting this thread, as I would have taken some pics. Just did up some wonderful venison steaks right on the open flames of our camp fire.
Without a shadow of doubt the best meat I have ever eaten was a roast leg of Warthog we had in South Africa.
These animals were a big pest to the locals - breaking in to the sugar cane fields and damaging the crops.
Can you imagine: Lean, sweet sugarcane fed pork....
Ahhhhhhhhh......

What's cooking tonight folks?
I got BBQ butterflied homegrown meat birds on the menu, to be eaten with some April Ham on the side (that's watermelon for the foreigners who don't know). It's to be washed down with some strawberry CC & soda and followed by pie and ice cream.
Any bullets/kettles/komados getting a workout?
Life is short, and fedgov and the banksters are short.
Better enjoy now.

Well Folks,
BBQ Season is just around the corner. So, let's get this thread back in the limelight.
I will post pic's of the BBQ I am seeking out, soon.
Cheers,
Mountainman.
Howdy,
Now lets see if I can get this right. Usually I copy my pic's from my blob to post here. I am trying to direct post pic's of the BBQ I really like. No workee for me.
I will edit soon, after I post the pic's elsewhere and copy here.
Alright, finally got a picture. I must say I do like this BBQ unit. A bit heavy to ship to my house from the USA.......However, I have found a similar unit, with Browning Logo's on it at Bass Pro Shop.
Mountainman.
What's next? 1001 things you can do with squirrels and a can of tomato juice
Badges?, Don't need no stinkin Badges
Do not use purple onions when cooking squirrel. The little suckers are a very dark meat already 😀
That is a great post with the BBQ pics GC!
I like the little camp grill with the stand that sticks in the ground.
I just bought a second Smoker/Grill at Canadian Tire. Have used mine for a year and really like it.
Hmmm, maybe I should rethink the quiet part...
Qing on a gas grill or charcoal simply can't compare to letting a hardwood fire burn down to coals and cooking over that. Just throwing that out there .......
