Hello all , i found a link here from another forum. After i signed up and got past the pesky spamstopper i did some reading and here i am. 🙂
Just been getting into this in the past week or two.
Right now my gf and i live in an apartment , i am desperatly trying to find a decent plot of land (10-25 acres would be perfect) that meets both of our needs. She wants to be no less than 30 minutes from Grande Praire. And i want land with trees and either an exhisting well or the option of drilling one or two wells.
In the meantime we are building a greenhouse on the deck , and turning our storage room into a prepardness room. I just ordered 2 BOB's
Blackhawk Cyclones (In black)
and 2 more load out style bags (In case we have the option of bugging out via vehicle)
I have a location picked out , with a good water source.
Now i also have a Katadyn Pocket water filter on the way $,$ as well as medic pouch for the GF's BOB (I think i stand more of a chance of getting hurt than she does..) So im forming a plan , looking at sleeping bags / mats / tents right now. As well as adding to our food storage. Gonna grab some MRE's , food rations (Mainstay and Datrex) , as well as some wise meals(mixture of dehydrated and freeze dried food portioned into meals) to start with.
Welcome Sadden and greetings from Northern Ontario.
Hi everyone! I also just found this site... sooo glad to see I am not the only one...LOL! Too bad I just missed the meet up ... maybe the next one. I am looking for community.... people to talk with ... sometimes if stuff is just running around in my head it seems foolish.
Sadden,
Do me a favour and have a look on the other side of the Wapiti River up route #666 and post whether there is any land available over there, please. 🙂 You may find a parcel of scrub brush and forest mix over there.
Myself, I always wanted a half acre parcel with an address on Hwy#666 so I could have a lawn sign that read words to the effect "My half acre of Hell, Welcome" But I left the area before I was able to sink roots. Now in the South part of the province.
That pic looks great. Clean, clear water and plenty of sand, not mud. That is one of the big piss-off's of living in Alberta or other prairie locations - the poor water quality compared to living in the mountains. Sorry, getting off on a tangent.
Welcome and please keep us posted. Ask lots of questions. Someone around here knows all the answers.
Cheers
Mountainman.
PS - Ladyboomer - welcome to you as well. Keep posting and you will find the network contacts and hopefully the community you seek. 🙂
Looks great, best of wishes and welcome
Never underestimate the power of free! If someone has deemed something valueless, yet U see value in it; Then you've already made a profit and savings!
hi, and welcome.
Thanks everyone. I will definitely look at highway 666.
Been looking at more gear 🙂
