Hey Everyone,

I am still looking to meet up with like-minded people but I'm thinking winter isn't the best time because of some difficulty in travel. 12/21/12 may be over but there are still alot of other threats that could effect us here in the interior like survivors coming from the coast after a major earthquake that maybe haven't prepped. I will admit to being a bit of a bleeding heart and would want to help these people as much as possible - these things are taken into consideration when I do my preps. Many people call me a bit naive because I want to help these people too - but not at the expense of my own family's lives. Who wants to live in a world where every person you meet is out to take what you have? I want to survive but also be there to help others in their time of need as well! Why survive if what's left isn't worth surviving and, yes, fighting, when necessary, for. Karma don't ya know!

It has been my experience that the interior is rich with self sufficient, independent free thinking people many of whom don't even realize they are "preppers." Many of said people would also shy away from the label as they are pursuing a lifestyle rather than identity.

Very true glasshouse. The term "prepper" seems to becoming synonymous with extremism and maybe a little crazy thanks to Doomsday Preppers and other shows and articles of that type. Self sufficient or maybe self reliant would, perhaps be a better term. To bad the media is always ripe to show the few extreme types rather that the majority of realistic independent free thinkers. If they did maybe more people would realize that what they are doing is working towards a better life with less to worry about

I know this is kinda early to plan, as if the price of fuel goes up a lot in the next few months I wont be going, but I am planning on coming to Kamloops in May for a martial arts tourney at TRU and would like to meet up with some other like minded people there to expand my network and exchange ideas. Also, if I do make it that far I am caring on to Summerland to meet an old friend and would like to meet up there with people in that area as well. Any thoughts? Will post more here as the time draws nearer. 😛

Hello Everyone,
We are new and probably overdue to this forum. We are located in Kelowna and looking to connect with like-mined families in the Okanagan Valley. We watched a very interesting video on YouTube today John Moore - Global Warming - What the Government Isn't Telling You Part 1 of 8 http://youtu.be/lBBlDOsNXjA

Send us a Post or PM if there's any events on the area.

Hello,
Does anyone know a good source for events, networking opportunities, resources, links, blogs or what-have-you that would support Preppers in the BC Interior? Thanks in advance.

Prepham,

The best advice I can offer is......take the bull by the horns and start something.

I do not know where in the Okanagan you call home, but I would suggest using this Forum and this thread to post a meeting in or near your town. Post the time, date and location. If only one other shows up, you have succeeded. Then try one a month during the non-winter months. You do not have to do anything other than post where and when and then wait to see who shows up.

Our little meeting last spring had only 6 persons arrive. By the third meeting we had over 20!!

It only takes one person to take the initiative to get the ball rolling, then the group takeover and hopefully gains enough energy to carry-on with minor pushes.

I wish you the best success at getting something going in the big OK!!

Cheers,

Mountainman.

I'm going to be in the OK area in May, kinda early to plan but something to think about. Kamloops then down to Summerland for a couple days.

Well DogLover, I might be coming up to the Quesnel area sometime over the next two months and then later just up to Williams Lake. Maybe we can get a coffee to discuss preps sometime over the next few months if you are interested. I'll keep posting as the snow melts.
Prepham, I frequently come down to Kelowna to do shopping at Costco - same applies maybe we can meet for coffee sometime as the snow melts - sorry just not big on great distance traveling in the snow if I don't have to anymore.
