I recently did the CFSC and am waiting for the license in the mail.
Unfortunately due to my work it is very difficult to make plans, so I did not do the restricted right away, but it is certainly my intention to do so.
The biggest benefit of doing both back to back is that you only pay the registration fee for the restricted.

For those wondering about cost, most courses run you around $100-$115 , which includes your books, instruction, and exam fees.
You have to complete the CFSC before you can do the Restricted CFSC.
If you complete only the CFSC, there is a $60 registration fee for the PAL.
If you compete both courses back to back, you pay an $80 registration fee for the PAL and RPAL combined.
If you do them separately, you will pay the $60 for the PAL, and another $80 when you want to register the RPAL.
You also have to provide a picture, which you can do yourself, or pay about $13 for anywhere you get passport photos done.

Hope that helps.
