The fact that the Government has this information and a subtle, yet obvious warning posted on a gc.ca domain is pretty important.
Wookie is most certainly correct. It's not a question of if, it's a question of when! In addition to your preps, also consider community. While I don't find having to deal with more people than necessary in an emergency situation all that appealing, there is something to be said for 'strength in numbers'.
Anyone forced to displace can all come camp at my house! ^.^ (Provided it's still standing, of course.)

Excellent links Wookie ... schools and government buildings/ essential services have come a long way in preparing better for this ... they have those city wide earthquake drills now as well here (The Big Shakeout Drills), usually 2-3 times a year. I don't know how many businesses/families are actually participating yet but it seems to be taking hold slow and steady.

Everything I've checked out that has been released by the government and safety agencies says that during an earthquake, remain in your home.
Point - I don't think that during a 9.0+, my bathtub is really going to help me out.
Any thoughts on this?

Noticed this very interesting and informative article this morning, titled:
Japanese quake an ominous sign for B.C. 'megaquake'
http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Japanese+quake+ominous+sign+megaquake/6185579/story.html

Regarding what to do during a 9+ megaquake or anything nearing that, I don't imagine I'll beable to do much while it's actually happening, but I thought I'd try to get to an inside corner if I'm in a building, away from windows and mirrors. 😕

Now for something really freaky.
27 January, 2010 - Major earthquake hits Chile
188 days later - Major earthquake hits New Zealand.
189 days later - Major earthquake hits Japan.
188 days later - Major earthquake hits Fiji.
187 days later - Major earthquake hits Mexico.
The next major earthquake is predicted for 24 September. Almost as regular as a pulse. I'm starting to wonder what the f*#k is going on with the Pacific ring of fire.

Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.

Was reading a link posted earlier, by wookie, that was written by Dr. Gerard Fryer, so I googled him, came across this little video, it's a year old now, but we are still in the active phase.

It was after the Japan earthquake in Mar 2011 when I kicked my 'earthquake preparedness' into high gear as I immediately felt that we could be next. Thankfully it hasn't happened yet, but we just don't know...
