😮
Believe it or not, but in Viet Nam the grunts preferred the 9mm not for the stopping power but for penetration. The VC use to wear padded jackets, that when wet would stop a 45 slug from a sub machine gun. It would knock them down, but 4/5 cases would not kill them except from real close, <20ft. The 9mm would penetrate the padding, and would wound the combatant. Also, when the 9mm was going thru the wet padding, it tended to mushroom the tip causing more traumatic damage.
REALLY 😯
For those who doesn't have R/PAL, have you guys consider muzzle loader?
As long as it's a long gun muzzle loader, I don't think you need a R/PAL; I don't remember if this was discussed here or another site.
You will need restricted PAL for pistol muzzle loader.
THats for flintlock muzzeloaders only. If its a caplock, you need a P.A.L. sometime back i did post several articles about flintlocks and being able to purchase them sans pal but the firefighting, shoot em up voices appeared missing why i suggested flintlocks. After that i thought what the hell, why waste my time. NOOTKA NICK
Ahh well Nootka Nick,
you can't convert them all and you definitely can't expect them to increase their IQ only after 1 sermon 🙂
Just be glad to know that some will actually do their due diligence and find out for themselves.
The good thing about flintlock muzzle loaders is that you can make your own powder and mold your own bullets.
But of course, I DO like my assault rifle.
Those who are unwilling to defend freedom, will become unfree.
I personally have a cap and ball .44 revolver that i make my own bullets for and i love it . the trick is to stock up on caps.
guess i will dust this one off as well..... hey does anyone out there have those single shot shotgun adapters??? im looking for the 12gauge to 20gauge or the 12 gauge to .44mag. I recently traded for a single shot 12 gauge and was playing the idea about using the adapters.Any info would be a great help. was kinda thinking about having the single shot with the bug out bag set up?? But haven't really made up my mind yet.
Been looking for adapters myself.
You've Got To Be Tough, If You're Going To Be Stupid.
Shotgun adapters just recently came to my attention. I found two places that sell a variety of them but this is the most economical place I've found:

I have NEVER dealt with them and I've NEVER bought anything from them, but their product is interesting and I may actually buy a couple just to try it 🙂

These are interesting, I've never even heard of them before either. You should be reposting the topic under the general forums using the "shotgun adapter" heading... might catch some traffic and spread the word.
would there be any damage to the barrel or shotgun itself with this adapter ? 😮
They work but they're only 3" long.
You'll be shooting from a 3" barrel minus the length of the shell. How accurate is a .22 from a smooth bore 2" barrel and loss of power too? 10 feet? 20 feet? Website says you can hit a coffee can at 25 paces. Not too bad I guess. OK for shotshells but not so much for single projectiles.
I was thinking of the ability to reduce the 12g to something smaller in a pinch to conserve defensive ammo when only hunting small game if it were truly teotwawki... low probability event but only $25 item.
Found a site in Alaska. Called MCA Sports Adapters. www.mcace.com/index.htm It looks like a doable system.
I highly recommend that you get your PAL, buy the book, about $20-$24. study it for two 0r three weeks, then challenge the exam for 25 dollars. The sooner you get this done, the sooner you can purchase and practice, bows are nice, (I have an awesome crossbow, BUT it is nothing compared to a well maintained Remington 700 30.06. Up to 500 meters, a melon sized target is not too difficult to hit, once your rifle is zeroed and true. Practice, practice, practice. I doubt being hit at 500 meters by a bow. 0 to 300 meters, buy a decent semi-auto 30 calibre, rifle, CSA VZ 858, (7.62 x 39) SoCom M305, (7.62 x 51),, Ruger mini 14 or Ruger Mini 30.
