I've just found your site, and read thru all the "meet and greet" posts. What strikes me the most is how vulnerable and ill-prepared most of you sound. Get off the Island, and off the coast! Get inland, well past Hope, hell, I wouldn't want to be anywhere South of Cache Creek at the least! Find a small rural ranching community with 2500 people or less and buy a small piece of property. Property further north is far cheaper than property prices at the lower mainland - if you can afford to live at the coast, you can afford to move. Do not wait, start now. People in these communities will not let strangers in after shtf - get in and get established now. sufficiency is what will save your life. Return to the ways of the pioneers 100 years ago, and you and your families might have a shot at it. Raise a few farm animals, grow a garden; can food, keep a root cellar, have a woodstove, etc. I live on a farm established in the early 1900's and am quickly reverting back to the way things used to be done by my grandparents and great-grandparents in order to keep my family alive.

Great advice for Luddites, chameleon! I'm a big fan of science, industry and knowledge though so your advice rings on deaf ears.

As for the rest of us benighted souls on the Island here, I would be interested in meeting people/groups. We have five+ family groups and more than a few things prepped. We have found that regular meetings are what make the group strong and we may be looking to include other preppers of a serious calibre. Or those willing to learn. pm me if interested.

Hello Folks,

I'm from the Tri-cities area.
I'd be interested in meeting and talking casually about prepping. 😛

Looking for people with similar intrests and possibly some new stuff to bring to the table. Please message me on here, or email me aaronbouge@yahoo.com Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Everyone!
I'm new to this site and only been prepping for a year but wound up using those supplies this winter when I injured myself and was off work. Because of my little bit of prepping (as far as food went) I actually made it through this winter on very little money because of my stores. I am now getting back on my feet again so to speak and have to start all over again with the food stores but it just goes to show you it doesn't have to be the shtf type scenario for prepping to come in handy! I'm in the Shuswap/Sicamous area and would very much like to meet up with other like minded people in my area! 😀

Wow, I just discovered this whole network of preppers thing. I was on youtube a couple of weeks ago looking for a good recipe for ghee (for my food allergies) and I saw people were canning butter...canning butter???? then I found this bexarprepper person and pages and pages of people prepping for whatever.

I hope to get a new dehydrator and that will be the extent of my food prep except for collecting water that is on sale. i will pick up purification tablets and some stuff like that. I have a crank radio and flashlight.

Other than that, I do not know where to start. I am not a hunter, which is why I want to dehydrate meat. And I have had some pretty poorly prepared wild meat, so the whole idea of that turns me off. I know if I was starving it would be different.

Anyway, I am Mae. Nice to know this site is here!

Howdy Folks,

Nice to see a start to getting a network going. Push harder. Push longer. Make this happen. The time is NOW. Don't wait for soemone else to get this started. Use this preppers site to your advantage. Make a network. Get some like minded folks together. Learn who each other is. Breakdown the barriers that keep you apart. Link-up. Find out who the friendlies are. Better to know now, before you need each other.

I hope to follow up on this a little later and find that you are hosting multiple meeting throughout the province. Maybe, I will be close enough to drop in on one or two??? August???

I hope you all get together. And post more. Keep this alive.

Mountainman.

hi all, i agree, networking is key, gotta get together and share ideas, i used to think preppers were crazy people that had unrealistic ideas about the economy etc. then i stumpled onto southernprepperone on youtube. that was about 6months ago, now i get it, it is plainly clear to me that the time is now to start getting prepared. Im not a "hardcore" but i work at it at a steady pace.i enjoy the outdoors and i hunt and fish, so the "camping" aspect of all this just makes sense. currently live in the lower mainland, but most likely will go back to the interior(home) within the next year. I hope that nothing crazy happens before i am able to move, getting out of the lower mainland is not going to be fun, should i ever have to!!!
